Day 8, Part 1
Last park day!
The day in which we brave 2 red parks in one day.
Some of you are wondering what a "red" park is. It's the park TGM has deemed the absolute worst one to go to. Up until this point, we had only visited green parks.
I was VERY anxious about this day. I orginally had planned to be a good TGMer and go to the green park-Animal Kingdom. But as you remember, DH and I decided to save AK for december when we won't melt upon getting off the bus in the morning. We hate AK in August when it's just DH and I, but we couldn't subject Lily to it. Plus, we felt there just isn't enough to do to justify dealing with the heat. In December there is a TON to do. We'll walk all the paths and see the shows, but in August the treks are like a death march.
Plus we still hadn't set foot in Tomorrowland at MK.
So I was hoping Lily would get up early today. It was an early entry day at MK. At this point letting Lily wake up on her own was working for us, so we didn't want to jinx it. I'm not sure how that will work in December. We'll need to be out early to avoid the worst of the crowds.
We made it to MK by 8:45, so not terrible, but they were just letting in the regular crowds. We actually walked in with the first giant crowd from the Transportation and Ticket Center. The monorail arrived at the same time at the boat. it was quite a sight. If I wasn't busy trying to power walk to get ahead of them, I might have stopped for a picture. It was like a swarm of ants after a picnic.
We headed to Tomorrowland. We rode Buzz. It had a 5 minute wait. Lily was very

for this one. Not scared, just looking around with wide eyes the whole time. Somehow I managed to hold Lily and still beat DH's score!
Next we rode the TTA. We almost rode it twice. It was so relaxing! This phot really shows how much weight I've lost. Compare my face to the first picture I posted at the beginning of the TR. I'm down at least 20 pounds since then, probably closer to 25.
You can also sorta see the Perry the Platypus shirt DH drew for Lily.
I think Lily really liked this ride.
BTW, I had heard that with the new voice track to TTA, they no longer paged Dr. Tom Morrow, but it's still there. I actually liked the new recording. It's probably great for newbies, which are probably the most likely to ride TTA.
After this we decided to skip Carrousel of Progress even though, it's honestly my favorite ride in Tomorrowland. What can I say? I love Puppies of Progress, but we were afraid there wasn't enough to keep Lily interested.
So we headed to Toon Town to wait for rope drop, but we decided to ride the teacups. DH hates the teacups, even if I don't spin it. Wuss. So I took Lily and he videoed. He also managed a couple of photos.
This is my, "are you going to take a picture or what?" face.
That picture pretty much sums up how Lily handled it. I think she was enjoying the hot breeze on her face.

She did play with the spinner a lot.
We got off just at Toontown was opening and I told DH we'd be too late for the fairies. I told him we'd have to be at the front of the pack with Lily out of her stroller already. He didn't believe me.
We were just behind the rope drop crowd. I walked in to check the wait and it was 25 minutes already. We skipped it. I sort of wish we had stayed, because I doubt we'll get to it in December since the crowds would be so much worse. But she has plenty of time to meet the fairies.
Speaking of crowds, there really wasn't much of anything to speak of at this point. Actually the whole time we were there it was very nice. I was expecting to pretty much ride nothing and wade throuhgh crowds, but it was probably a little less busy than it was the morning we had been here eariler in the week. I chalk that up to all the kids going back to school. Around here everyone was going back sometime in the next week, so most families would have gone the week before.
So we took Lily through Minnie and Mickey's houses. I never realized how interactive Minnie's house is, we always just walked straight through.
Next we spent some quality time cooling off in Donald's boat. This was a blast, much better than waiting in line for the fairies with a 1 yo!
As you can see, Lily loved it.
We walked over and road Haunted Mansion (Fantasyland was too busy for my tastes, I think everything was around a 20 minute wait).
Afterwards we decided to check and see if Columbia Harbor House was open. It was only 10:30, but they were open! Nothing like fried fish and chicken nuggets at 10:30am!
Next we headed to Country Bear Jamboree, which is on my top 10 list of WDW favorites. I have unusual taste, I guess. As much as I love the mountains, I grew up with "real" rollercoasters at Cedar Point, so they aren't that big of a deal. Though, I LOVE Splash Mountain for the theming.
Anyway, Lily LOVED CBJ. She really liked the animals on the wall though. She kept pointing to them and whining, because she wanted them to talk and not the stupid bears.

It was a great crowd. A bunch of people who had never been that had the right sense of humor and a couple of super fans like me that clapped though each song like I always try to do. I've been in there with boring, humorless people before and it's a very different show. But this crowd laughed appropriately and it was fun.
Lily was pretty much done at this point, but we decided to try the Tiki room anyway. We ended up leaving, because she wasn't into it and was ready to leave.
I decided to stop at the Baby Care Center and see if she would nurse. To my complete shock, she actually did! I think it was peer pressure.

This was the only time we visited that there was anyone in there nursing.
I'm going to take a second and talk about the MK BCC in more detail. It is next to the Crystal Palace. There is a seperate room for nursing mothers. It has 4 rocking chairs. There are a few other rooms; a bathroom, a little kitchen/store, a changing room, and a TV room with highchairs, tables and books. The chairs in the TV room are extremely uncomfortable, but otherwise I love this little area. We didn't really look in the store/kitchen, but I know they had a little water cooler with free water.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who has a child that needs a break. It's nice and quiet. Also come here if you have to change the baby. The tables are full size and they provide paper sheets to put under the child. it's much closer to our set up at home.
I can't believe it was the only one we visited, but Epcot's was too far away and we didn't go to AK. We were only at DHS the first day and unfortunatly I didn't think of it.
I know the other ones have different set ups. DHS and AK I think have private nursing rooms and I think Epcot's is the biggest. Someone gave a GREAT review of all of them, so I'll see if I can find it.
After our stop here, we headed back to the room after I said goodbye to the castle

.
Up next, we hit the other red park, Epcot!
