Swan View Question

I need a room for 2/26-3/1. I know short notice. I have only been to WDW once, and then we camped.

I am about to book the Swan. If I get a resort view do I see Epcot?

Is the extra money worth it for the balcony?

If we decide to spring for a balcony romm, can anyone suggest any special requests we should make, such as a floor or a particular locations.

OK i have not stayed all over this hotel but I can tell you this....

The balconies are on the rooms on the 2 wings that extend out of the back of the hotel. You would be facing the Dolphin as these 2 hotels are back to back,

if your room was on the east side (the outside)of the east wing...you'll be facing the BW..beyond the BW is Epcot...how much of it you can see will probably depend on how high you are so the higher the better

the west side (the inside) of the east wing will have you facing the center of the back of the hotel. You will be able to see the Dolphin and the other wing will be opposite you. The farther down the wing you are..would be better. If you're farthet to the end of the wing you may be able to see the groto pool.

Now the east side or the inside of the west wing will face right back at east wing. I have stayed here, on the very end and I loved it. I could see the Dolphin and the YC and the grounds between the S/D.
Because I was on the end I could see a bit of Epcot

The west side (the outside) of the west wing would look down upon the Swan lap pool and if you're high enough you may get a good view of the beach and the grotto.

The non balcony rooms are in the main section of the buiding ...if you're on the front you would of course face the front grounds...the parking lot and if you're high enough MGM.

View from the back of the main section vary as the wings can get in the way of your view. If you were between the wings view would be limited. On the east end you may be able to as far as MK if you're high enough

One thing for sure...higher is always better for view

You may want to check soem of the photos and layout descriptions of the S/D resort on Glo's FAQ and Dreamflight99's thread . I'm not really sure what "resort view" really guarantees, I thought it meant a view of the resort itself (or another resort) but I could be wrong.
I think the balconies at the Swan are on the north side ( the side facing the Dolphin with the walkway and water and resort boat launch), with views of the courtyard and the grounds and Dolphin. But if you have a balcony on the far east wall of the building you could have a view of the lake with BW/BC/YC and beyond to Epcot. The far west wall you would see MGM (well, ToT anyway!). At the Dolphin there are more "fingers" of the building with more balconies, the the balcony rooms toward the ends of the "inner" fingers or any balcony on the outer side of the far east or far west finger would give the best panoraman views. I'm not sure if it makes sense written out like this I have stayed in the far east wing of the Dolphin and watched the Illuminations fireworks from the balcony...awesome!
I do love to have a balcony for the fresh air and bigger sense of space myself.... but if you don't spend much time in the room you may not feel it's worth the extra money.
Hopefully someone else will come along and give you more specific room number suggestions for the Swan..........

but those wings you see on the Dolphin....4 of them....the Swan has 2 and you can see the tip of the east wing in the picture.

As you can see if you were deep between these wings...view would be limited. Ask to be on the outside of the east wing of either hotel.
For Epcot views I think the outside of the east wing of the Dolphin is best ....that is if you want a balcony

Boy - the picture is spectacular!!! And 10 days till I leave.

I am traveling to WDW on business; my sister at the last moment is coming with me. She thinks we will be saying at All Stars, but I managed to swing the Swan. While I will be tied up in meetings she will be exploring Epcot at a leisurly pace - she is a landscape "nut" and can't wait to enjoy the gardens at her pace - not at that of her kids. We have each been there once before with our families in tow.

When I reserved the rooms on DU there were the following choices in increasing cost:

Standard View
Lake View
Resort View (no balcony)
Resort View with balcony
Club Level

Although we won't spend much time in the room it is a unique opportunity for us I am looking forward to the surprise!!

Does anyone know if we could request a extra pillow & blanket for our room at the Swan? My dh (he is wierd, I know) likes to sleep on the floor sometimes when his back hurts. Thanks!
