Swan Room Request

Never stayed at the SWAN and was wondering what would be a good "request" to ask for and not get stuck looking over dumpsters, etc. I guess they assign the rooms 5 days ahead like Disney? We were upgraded in Nov. at the Dolphin to a resort view which was completely blocked by the top of a huge palm tree. Not that great of an upgrade IMO.

Are you booked in a standard view room? If so, it is unlikely that you will have a wonderful view, unless you are really lucky. I would simply request a room with as nice an unobstructed view as possible.

I have also had my view completely blocked by huge trees, so I know that it isn't fun, but it is much nicer than many standard views and not so bad when you are paying standard rates. It happened to me once when paying for a water view at the YC. I literally could not see anything at all but leaves! I also stayed in the Grand Floridian at Club Level and had an up close and personal view of a tree that completely blocked a view of anything else. I decided that at least it was private! LOL! So, although not your dream upgrade, it was still an upgrade to look at your tree.

The reality is:
Some standard rooms do overlook dumpsters, parking lots etc. and some people end up having to stay in them. Personally, i would be happy enough if booked in a standard view room to be upgraded to a 'resort view' of a tree. If you really don't want a standard view, it is possible to book resort view or lagoon view which will guarantee something nicer.

Good luck!

I have also booked an Epcot view, extra $$, at the Dolphin which required having to put your face on the window to view that direction. Swan is really booked-up for the time we are there so I guess it will just be "luck of the draw" as they say. I probably would have been really upset paying to stay at the GF and having that kind of view. They should adjust the price of rooms like that IMO.

We stay there all the time. I would also ask to be away from the elevators as they (and the people getting on and off them) can be noisy at times.

I changed our room to a grand deluxe one and requested lake-view, if possible. We got a corner room facing the Boardwalk and Epcot. My only better suggestion would be to ask for the highest floor possible. We were on 4 and could only see the TOP of Spaceship Earth. I think if you were on 6 you could have seen the whole thing and most of the fireworks. Hope this helps someone else. :)
