I know they are very similar but which one is more likely to have a balcony?

I believe they both have balconies. The beds are bigger at the Swan. Queen vs double.

Since they aren't owned by Disney you can actually request and be guaranteed that you will get a balcony. You will pay a higher rate than standard though.

Balcony is a booking category at S/D, unlike Disey resorts where it's a request. It's more than standard rate, but then it's guaranteed!

both have balancy but very few of them. You have a choice pay extra up front to guar one or ask when check in and get lucky maybe. best way is to guar this when you book. good luck have a nce vac. we have stayed at both hotels.

too few balancy at both hotels if you have all ready book call and ask for a guar balcany. this request they will put on your res but to truly get a bal you must pay for this type of room. We also love the bal and pay the extra to get one. their are different typyes of balcaony at both hotels although their most of the small one with a table and two chairs. Also remember do you want the morning sun or afternon. Once we had the sun most of the day no cover wow was that hot.

Thanks so much for the info. We are actually staying a couple of free nights on our SPG points. That probably means no balcony - right ?

Probably depends on how many points you use.

I was thinking of switching my Swan reservation to points. I actually prefer not to have a balcony, but the specific category of room I wanted can't be booked on points. I was told resort view room with a balcony is 11K points per night (traditional room with limited view is 10K). There is a pay for 4 nights (on points) get the 5th free promo, so depending on the number of nights you are planning on staying, the actual points per night can be less. BTW, these points rates are for either Swan or Dolphin.

Good luck!
