Swan or BWI?

I was considering staying at the swolphin on my next trip in Feb 2009, with my government employee discount, but after looking at their 2008 rates, I noticed that this is their peak period, and a standard room would be $225! If I got a AAA discount, I could probably get BWI for only $70 more. I've been to the BWI before, but have never stayed at the Swan. It'll be a short trip, of only about 4-5 days, so the extra cost wouldn't be too substantial. I want to stay in the Epcot resort area this trip, so I'm really torn. Which would you choose?

I'd save the extra $70 dollars per night and use that to have some nice meals during your 4 or 5 day trip.

I've heard the Swan and Dolphin are beautiful resorts and an easy boat ride to Epcot. And since you stated that you've never stayed at the Swan and really want to the $70 savings plus wanting to stay there would be the deal maker for me.

I know this isn't really relevant, but it kind of is. We're leaving in 3 weeks for WDW and when we made our reservations for our trip we were really torn as to where to stay. DH wanted the AKL first, WL second. After realizing that for the week it's slightly over a $400 price difference (AKL being $400 more expensive) and the fact that we're traveling with a 4 yo child that we will be spending the majority of our time at MK, the combination of the savings and location is what sold us on WL.

HTH!

OK.

I have stayed at both. I think that for "value" for your money you get a better deal at the Swan. Bigger beds, NICER BEDS (by a LONG SHOT) etc.

Now the other considerations are themeing and transport. If "themeing" is your thing the Swan isn't going to do it. Plus you can't use DME on the Swan and they charge for parking....

ooh, didn't know about Swan not having DME. Thanks for sharing that. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to rent a car, so that could help tip the scales one way or the other.

Just a quick note to point out that the money you save by staying at the Swan will more than pay for town car service to and from the airport -- much faster than DME as well.

Honestly, though, I don't think you can go wrong either way. Both are amazing resorts.
