We have gone to Disney many, many years and over the course of time the price increases have gotten so outrageous we've grown to enjoy staying at the Swan/Dolphin from time to time. Were looking to book our next Disney trip to find high cost Disney deluxes (shocker, lol), and the Swan/Dolphin are both significantly more expensive than were used to seeing. Im talking 300 per night at least, if its even available! There are so many dates blocked out. Our Disney vacation this year is looking less and less attainable:(

What dates are you looking at? I booked an add on night on Dec.3 at the Swan for $199 for the night. We are arriving late and will be moving over to the BWI CL the next day so I really didn't care about a view or anything. When I called in I just asked for the lowest priced room and this is what they gave me. It will be kinda fun to see what the hotel and rooms are like for future reference because you are right, Disney will soon be pricing us out of the deluxe hotels.

If you're looking between now and the end of Food & Wine, there is limited availability. They aren't discounting what dates they have left. They don't need to.

Nope I'm looking at their calendar on their website. Our spring break is spotty with openings, same with beginning of our summer. We've never seen that. And are used to getting 300$ per night AT MOST rates.

One of my former jobs was as a hotel Revenue Manager. Essentially, that's the person that sets room rates and controls how the rooms are sold. The goal is to maximize room revenue. (I also worked at the Disney Reservations Center in Orlando. So, I have a decent understanding of the Disney World hotel market.)

If you're seeing $300+ rates for The Swan and Dolphin for 2017, it might be due to the revenue management strategy. Instead of offering discounts and slowing raising rates as the hotel fills, they might be doing the opposite. They charge full price now because some people will buy it. As time passes, if they aren't filling rooms, they then start offering discounts (like Florida residents or Annual Passholders). This is possible because (despite what some folks believe), there still are lots of people that book "last-minute" trips to Disney World.

Without access to proprietary information, this is just an educated guest.

I was just commenting on this to DH! We're SPG Platinum & even with his corporate rate I was only finding $300+ a night! And little to no availability to even use our points for nights. I've never paid more than $225/nt for S/D, so I was getting sticker shock as well! writeguyfl thanks for the explanation, let's hope that's the case & a better deal will come out closer to my dates!
