We just returned from Disney and a week's stay at S/D club lounge. We used accumulated points to stay at the CL.

We arrived at the Swan late in the evening and were given a nice clean room on the 12th floor with a nice view of ToT :D . The hallways had yet to be remodeled but we found them in nice condition and clean. The bathroom size was adequate and the additional sink outside the bathroom was nice to have.

The club level staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food is freshly made on site at the bakery in the basement.

At breakfast there was always a nice assortment of fresh fruit, packaged cereals, delicious croissants/large muffins/melt in your mouth pastries, milk choice, coffee, water, and a variety of teas.

In the evening, there were always 2 hot selections, 5 large cookie choices (they were all good but the chocolate chocolate chip became my personal favorite!), cape cod individual bags of potato chips, carrot/celery/brocolli/califlower/cucumber slices with dip, nice assortment of cheese and crackers, some fruit, cans of soda, water.

We had turndown service that included turning on the lights in the room, replacing towels/toiletries that we used in the afternoon, and chocolates on the pillows along with a card describing the weather for the next day. There were bath robes in the room for our use (on club level rooms only). A paper or 2 was delivered daily.

The room was kept very clean and vacumed.

Towards the end of our stay one evening, we were told the club level would be closed for the rest of the week due to renovations. The next day, I expressed my concerns to the front desk about this because I didn't want to walk back and forth to the dolphin for club level services. We were told that we should have been informed of the CL closure when we made reservations (this didn't occur and we weren't told this at check-in either). The front desk gave us the option of moving to the CL at dolphin or refunding our points. We chose to move and were also given a nice view of epcot's illuminations/complimentary late checkout when I asked for this. It was inconvenient to move but it was better than trekking over to the dolpin everyday.

We checked in with no problem at the dolphin and when asked, I was told that our turn down service would continue. The lobby was impressive. There was no convention occuring during our stay and I saw few people in the lobby.

The hallways on CL 12 were newly remodeled. Unfortunely, they were noticeably less clean than the Swan's. It wasn't trashy but it didn't look like it was vacumed regularly (perhaps the darker carpet shows more). The room itself wasn't as clean as the swan---again, the floor could have used vacuming, the floor tile in the bathroom areas needed sweeping, there was an slight odor in the bathroom :( (like onions or food---or maybe the lack of bathroom venting causes this; however, there is no venting at the swan's bathroom and we didn't notice this; I smelled this same odor at animal kingdom mentioned this to my husband who said it was a food smell), I found a small ant crawling on the bathroom lavatory. The bathroom is very tiny but the sink is located on the outside. I found a string of hair on the counter of the minibar (the blow dryer is in this location). (I didn't ask for a new room: assuming from the condition of the hallways that another room wouldn't be any better, I was tired from moving and didn't want the hassle of going through the process of getting another room, and we were nearing the end of our trip.)

The room at the dolphin was newly remodeled and noticeably more spacious than the swan. The beds were also much smaller (double vs queen at the swan). The first night, they forgot to provide turndown service (we used our towels and needed fresh ones for the next morning---the towels do not dry well in the rooms!). I called about this that evening, and was told it would be provided the next night and she offered to send up a box of chocolates for the inconvience within 30-45 minutes---it was getting late so I stayed up but the box didn't come. It turned up later the next day. Although we were given turndown service that next evening, we didn't receive a morning paper that next morning (not a big deal as they had extras in the club lounge). Housekeeping services didn't improve during our 2 night stay. On our last day, housekeeping saw us in the hall about 2 pm and said "Are you going to leave?" Apparently, she didn't know about our late check-out---I was beginning to wonder if overall, this hotel has some communication snags.

The food and sevice at CL was just as good at the dolphin. It was so convenient having this service just a couple of doors away from our room! We enjoyed our view from the dolphin as well as the extra space. The CM was extra helpful at the business center on our last day.

The laundry center at the dolphin was clean and the grotto pool and slide were fun and easy to use. Fresh light green-colored towels were provided poolside.

The negative thing at both hotels was the cooling vent. The vent is on the wall facing one of the beds so the air blows on you while you sleep. The only way to fix this was to hang up a towel over the vent to deflect it away. We didn't have any problems with the rooms being too warm or too cool.

The transportation to all the parks was easy and convenient. The boat rides to MGM/epcot were so relaxing. The only problem we had was leaving MK one day---from the time we arrived at our bus stop to the time we arrived at the dolphin it took 50 minutes!
 This was mostly due to the bus taking a long time to arrive at MK, and then it waited awhile at MK. Other trips from MK never took that long.

I would stay again at the swan :cheer2: but would really consider long and hard about the dolphin. The things that would take me back to the dolphin would be the epcot view, the larger room size, the closeness of the laundry and pool, and lobby/eating choices.

We had a great time at the parks!

Thanks for your review. I returned from the Swan a little over a week ago, and it is my favorite resort. The hallways on the 4th floor were newly redone, so there was that nice new carpet smell as soon as I got off the elevator. :)

This can be easily remedied without the towel! These vents are "movable" by using your fingers. Just move the inside vents individually by grasping the edge and moving in the opposite direction. Once you try, you'll see what I mean. Once you have directed the inside flap vents (they move LEFT-to-RIGHT), you'll be able to direct the exterior vent flaps (which move UP/DOWN). I always redirect these each time I'm in the resort, and usually have maintenance change the filter as well. :)

Thanks for your lovely post. I enjoy BOTH of these properties, but prefer the Dolphin. I'm glad you objected to the problems you experienced, and called the desk with your concerns. You are also free to write a letter to the Dolphin management, and explain the trouble you encountered. This is always beneficial to a property, and will aid in improving both housekeeping and customer service. I urge you to do this, if you have a moment. ::yes::

Glad you had a great time!! ;)

P.S. HI NANCY!! :sunny:

Thanks dreamflight, I'll remember that! My husband could only move the vent flaps just a little but I think that he didn't do everything you suggested....

Also, thanks for the encouragement in contacting the dolphin re: our experience. :D I will also let them know how terrific the CL experience was as well! I can't express enough how great the baked goods (and staff!!) were and the overall convenience of having this service.

Does the swan and dolphin share the same management??

Thanks for the wonderful review!! - I just booked several nights at the Swan for DH and I to enjoy before moving over to BWV on Sunday and being joined by the rest of the family for the week. This trip is not until next Oct (booking at my 11 mos window) - so we are looking forward to spending time in Epcot for F&W - I am also looking forward to my first Swan/Dolphin stay !!

Thanks for your honest review. We have stayed at the Swan twice and its our 2nd favorite resort after the Poly.

No...but they systematically "cover" one another in a business sense. They regularly hold meetings together, and the staff interacts to work cogently & cohesively with one another. It's a true symbiotic relationship.

Thanks again, for a wonderful post!
