We are planning a family trip next summer (june 4-june 14 but flexible times) and would like to stay at the Dolphin, but the Swan is fine as well. I kept kept checking and the nurses (wife) rate has always been the same. I havent checked for a about a month, today I finally get the ok from the other members that are traveling with us, I go and check and bam the rates are rack rates on the DreamsRES system. I havent called the hotel directly yet but I will, am I missing a sudden ended to these rates?

I just called yesterday for reservations for Easter week 2004, and the nurse discount was available ($135 at Dolphin and $149 at Swan...not bad since that is peak week)...I ended up going with the AP discount ($139 both places, but it includes an upgrade to a Lakeview room)...the guy told me that both rates were still available for "everything I have checked for 2004" he didn't think there were any blackout dates...and if they were available easter week they should certainly be available in August...don't despair.... it is probably just a fluke on Dreams website....call the hotel directly and check.

Hey, SB in KY--where in KY are you?? I'm also SB in Ky! And a nurse!

How did you get the AP rate for Easter week? We have ressies for 2/27 - 3/6, the best rate I could get is $162.50 (AAA, AP was more). Wouldn't the rates be the same in Feb as they are for April?

They only have a certain amount of rooms available at the discounted rates. We have ressies in March at the Dolphin government rate for the last 4 nights of our trip. We couldn't get a room the first 4 nights because of a convention during that time. They may be booked for that time. I would call the hotel and ask. That is how I found out about our dates.

I just checked your dates on the DReamRes site and it showed availability for your dates at the 129 per night rate. Maybe you entered 2003 instead of 2004.

I need help!!! Either I'm on the wrong web site, or I'm just confused!! Can you post what site you found the $129 price on? I went to the Dreams Unlimited site from the link on the board, and I still come up with $162.50 as the best rate. I would LOVE to get the $129 room rate.

Thanks!

Hi 01Sweetpea, I can help you understand this a little better. Please note the $129.00 rate is something available to teachers, Government Workers, or Nurses. Dreams has rates available for your travel dates after checking. What discount are you trying to use?

Unfortunately I don't qualify for the teachers/nurses/govt disc. When reading SB's post she said she got an AP rate of $139 for Easter 04. I checked Dreams (I think) and AP was $172.50, AAA is $162.50 (which is what we have now). Just trying to see if the AP rate of $139 was also good for my dates of 2/27-3/6. Would love to save some $$$. Thanks for all your help. Discount or no-discount - Dolphin here we come!!

I'm sorry Sweetpea. I was responding to OKSTATE. I did't mean to confuse you.

To get the reservations using the discount from Dreams Unlimited, can I get the same rate by calling the hotel or do i need to go thru their internet site? Does Dreams Unlimited have a phone #?

You SHOULD be able to get the discount rate by calling the hotel directly. Some people have had better luck calling Dreams Unlimited. They may be able to get back to you if the discount rates show up in the future.

I am booked at the Dolphin for 6/3-6/11 with a nurses rate of $129.00. I tried going thru Dreams but they told me the nurses rates "weren't out yet" so I called S/D directly and had no problem. Very friendly on the phone too.

Thanks, I will try and give them a call today. We currently have reservations at the POR 5/29-6/4 @ $144. My wife would qualify for the government discount, so we would be able to get the Dolphin @ $129. This will be both my wife and son's first time to Disney. Should I switch? If so, will I lose the so called "Disney Magic"?

Tpolock- Remember there is a $10 a day resort charge which actually brings the cost to $139 per night. You wouldn't be saving much money per night but you would be getting a deluxe resort instead of a moderate. As far as losing the "Disney Magic", I wouldn't make my decision based on that. A room is for sleeping and at the S/D you are right in the middle of all the Magic you need.

Hi All, Just an informational Post so you don't go crazy, looking for the $129.00 price. Club Room-$224.00
Resort View with Balcony-$204.00
Resort View - $194.00

Standard View - $149.00

tpolock--I don't think you lose any Disney Magic by staying at the Dolphin. The lobby there is fantastic, and you're so close to MGM/Epcot/Boardwalk. You're definitely IN Disney World. Plus try to get a renovated room at the Dolphin. The beds truly are heavenly.

Thanks everybody. I ended up switching my reservations from POR to the Dolphin. I didn't request a renovated room. I guess i can call back and do that? I have read on these boards both sides. One says to ask what you want and you may receive it. The others say to not make request until you go to check in. I guess the hotels were getting numerous request via phone and fax?

tpolok-
Go to SPG.com and register to be a starwood preferred guest. It is free and it may help you get an upgrade or a special request. They will give you a member number and all you have to do is call the hotel and have that number added on your reservation. Good luck.

RescueRanger-

Thanks. I joined starwood and had it added to my ressie. I guess we will have to see what happens.
