We are huge beach club fans...would we be disappointed by staying at either of these? Is the nurse/teacher discount only available at certain times? How far in advance do you have to book to get these rates? What kind of ID do they require? Sorry I'm rambling but the discount looked pretty significant and was wondering what the catch was! Thanks for any info in advance! princess: :wizard: pirate:

You won't have SAB, but the grotto pool is fantastic! As far as restaurants, you know what is in the area and how close it is. Going from the Dolphin to the Swan or vice versa is like the YC to BC, so very close, plus the Boardwalk area is so close! Heavenly beds... heavenly beds... and heavenly beds! Being that they are taller, the views, I believe, are more spectacular than the YC/BC. No mickey soap, but I honestly prefer the S/D oatmeal and/or cold cream soaps! Last boat stop to MGM and first one off! Last time we went in July I just handed them my paycheck stubfor proof of discount. Discounts aren't as prolific as they once were, but I am sure you can still find a great deal out there, depending on your dates.

Give them a try! I think you'll love it!

If you love the beach club..then you will go crazy for the swan/dolphin.

We have stayed at Dolphin many times. We prefer it for the great rooms and ammenities, wonderful views, heavenly beds and of course the great rates.

I just got off the phone with Bob at Dreams Unlimited. I booked the Swan for our quick trip Feb 3. I was looking at $255 a night for WL, I got the Swan for $159, plus with the DIS special I got a room upgrade to lake view. It's a really nice hotel, we stayed there back in '98. Rooms are very spacious if I remember correctly, thinking back they seemed to be about as large as the GF/CR. I'm just pleased about the proximity to the park, if I can't be on the monorail I feel that this is about the next best thing for the price.

We've stayed at the BC but this past July's visit to the Dolphin has us hooked! I'll echo everything that Hockymom said - both resorts are wonderful and you won't regret the choice!

Does anyone have the nurse/teacher price the dolphin has for 2005? Each time we call they say they don't have them yet. Thanks!

Donna B.

Are there daybeds (along with 2 full or queen size beds) at either the Swan or Dolphin?

Can't answer everyone's questions, but we have stayed at both the BC and the Swan and I honestly prefer the Swan. The pool is awesome and not as CROWDED as we always found Stormalong Bay. I like the smaller size of the Swan--it felt more intimate. I like the oatmeal soap WAY better than the Mickey (Ivory) soap.

We were going to stay there this spring break and use the teacher discount, but at that time of year, it was just as cheap to stay at AKL and we wanted to try something different. I THINK I was quoted something around $170/night. The last time we stayed there it was only around $130/night. You just need to keep calling and asking when the discount rates for your dates will be released.

My husband and I both brought our teacher ID badges, but I don't remember being asked for them.

We got a rollaway which fit nicely in a room that already had two fulls in it at the Dolphin. I don't know if there might be daybeds in some of the suites, tho.

The Swan studio room has a king bed and a queen fold out couch. You could always get a roll away for a standard room at S/D. You really can't beat the location and views!

I am considering a 3 night stay at the Swan at the end of April, for my DD's 18th birthday. This is going to be a quick trip, so am trying to determine what to do for this trip. We have stayed at the Poly, WL, POFQ CBR in the past, and the girls want to do something different. The beds at the Swan are calling to me,,they do look amazing,,lol.

Concerns I have are these,, hopefully someone can help with them :)

Bus situation. I know it shares the bus with other resorts in the area,, how much of a hassle is it? We use the bus transport alot, so this is a biggie for us.

One of the reasons for this trip is to see a certain band play at the House of Blues (already got the tickets) so what should I expect in the way of bus transport to and from DD?

Meal options and refillable mugs,, do they have them? We love mugs,,lol

Thanks guys,,you all rock :)

We were there in May & the bus situation (as well as the boat situation) was EXCELLENT! We never had to wait long for a bus at the Swan. The boats were also prompt. We were always able to get a seat on the buses, with room left over. When we were there we ONLY shared buses with the Dolphin, NEVER with the other Epcot resorts. I had heard that you would, but we did not, not once. :earboy2: However, the boats do pick up at every, single, possible stop along the way! We had one or two standing boat rides (on E nights) but never had to wait for a new boat to come due to overcrowding.

I am not sure what you mean about meal options, but there are several restaurant choices between the Dolphin & the Swan, and when you add in the restaurants at the Boardwalk the number just goes up. You will have way more dining options staying in this area than at one of the non-Epcot resorts. Tubbi's Buffeteria at the Dolphin has the refillable mugs. I went over to the Dolphin all the time to get stuff from Tubbi's, but I am glad we stayed at the Swan. I highly recommend it. I have absolutely NOTHING negative to say about it!! :flower1:
