i'm taking my 15 yr old to wdw for her 16th bd - i'm seriously considering the dolphin but was wondering how often starwood preferred guests get to upgrade for free to balcony rooms

also can anyone suggest something special to do for a 16 year old on her bd in wdw

thanks in advance

cindy

Wow, a 16th birthday celebration at WDW. Why not let her call the shots for the whole day and plan out her idea of a perfect day at WDW. Her favorite places for breakfast, lunch and dinner, her favorite attractions. You could top off the evening at Cirque du Soleil and then over to Pleasure Island and stay for the New Year's Eve celebration. There are some terrific restaurants for a very special birthday dinner. If she isn't too "grown-up" she may even get a kick out of a character meal to have her birthday photos taken with some of her favorite childhood friends. I am sure it will be a wonderful day no matter what you do. She is a lucky girl to be taken to WDW for her birthday and I'll bet you are pretty lucky too to have a 16 year old want to be with you on that special day. Have a ball -- they grow up way too fast.

We justed returned from swan and received an upgrade to MGM view. The person checking us in was not very nice. I told him we were celebrating 2 birthdays and graduation and he cared less.

No matter where it is (even in WDW... ) you will always find someone who is not especially nice, but that is just human nature, which is why Disney tries to find people that have good, cheerful dispositions when hiring. But, every now and then a "grumpy" slips through. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

It depends on how many points you have and the availability. I found the staff at the Dolphin to be very nice and accomodating. We requested a balcony also, but were told we would have to pay $30 extra a night. We didn't have any spg points then, but we were upgraded to a resort view instead of the limited view that we received on the teacher rate.
