I am starting to think about the prize I won here on the DIS:cool1: 6 nights at the Swan/Dolphin. I am bounng back and forth between wanting to go sometime this summer (when we will really enjoy the beautiful pool), or October.

Anyway the biggest part of my budget for this trip will be the food. I won a gift certificate to Blue Zoo! :woohoo:

I've seen lots of Pics and reveiws of Blue Zoo, but the other restaurants in the S/D not so much.

I'd love to see or hear about other places to go while I'm there.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately the info is kinda generic/brochure type info. I still really like to hear about people's first hand experiences there.

Me too, especially about Kimonos. It sounds interesting, and I'd love to hear about the hot appetizers in addition to the sushi. Anyone?

Having said that... we went to bluezoo during our March '07 trip. Mom was coming down with the flu, which rained on her parade a little, but we still enjoyed it. The food was excellent, we had great service, and we enjoyed the decor.

For our May '07 trip we went to the Mother's Day brunch at Fresh. We really enjoyed it, even though they ran out of the some of the desserts before we got to them!! A crime, truly. They had several good choices, and everything was very... fresh. Um. In an embarrassing note, we forgot anything but our room card, which of course you can't use at the Swan or Dolphin. Thankfully the *very* *kind* manager at the restaurant let us give her our name and room number at the Poly, and once we reached our room, we were able to call back and give her a credit card number. We were obviously very grateful, b/c washing dishes wouldn't have been fun at WDW on Mother's Day!!

my personal experience would be out dated at this point, the facilities have gone though a major rehab and update since I was last there. But if someone from Swan and Dolphin wants to put up with me a couple days, I'll write a fair and honest review.

I stay at Swan and Dolphin pretty much everytime i go. I can tell u that the restaurants are great now at Swan u have Garden grove kimonos and the Millitano. All great restaurants garden grove has a great character breakfast. Kimonos is more of a bar but they have great sushi and parents bring there kids and they do karaoke there. Millitano is a italian restaurant very price hence i haven't eaten there yet. They also i believe have something by the pool and in the lobby on they way out to the boats to the parks u have a coffee bar open in the morning. Dolphin u have more choices. U have Blue Zoo, The fountain, Shulas, Fresh, Lobby bar, and Picabu. Blue zoo is a fancy fish place its pretty good been there once. The fountainis a ice cream shop that serves ice creams and burgers and such like and old malt shop. Shuals is a steak house very good but very pricey but once again very good imho. Fresh is a mediterranean restaurant with a excellent breakfast. The lobby bar is a what it says a bar in the lobby. Picabu is one of my favs its open 24/7 they have sandwiches hot food all kinds of stuff. Its served cafeteria style its good late in the night or anytime. They also have a 7/11 type store. Out of all the restaurants my top 3 are Garden Grove, Fresh, Picabu. If u guys have any other questions pm me and ill be more then happy to answer them.

Last time we did the character brunch on sun. If you are looking just for the characters there are only 2, I think Pluto and Goofy, our ds are teens so we just went for the food and there is lots of it. We all loved it and will go back again. I think they definetely had a better selection than Beach Club which we couldnt get an ADR for. They had cereal, lots of fresh fruit choices, made to order omlets, bacon, sausage etc. Good muffins and danish etc. We all left stuffed for sure. Got a sandwhich at the Splash Grill I think its called. It was o.k. but kind of on the pricey side and the ds got some stuff from Picabus, the portions were not too big but the price sure was. I think it was something like almost $10 for some hot wings. I laughed when we figured it was almost $1 a wing but they do have alot of choices there. The Dolphin Fountain was really crowded when we were there so we didnt go. Make sure you arent going during a convention time because that would affect restraunt volume etc. Best of luck and have a great trip. Congratulations, you will love the resorts!!
