SWA unused travel funds

I have 4 credits available from one flight dropping prices 4 times. I am trying to apply the unused travel funds, but when I do, the system says I can't use my credit card. How do I apply 4 travel funds, then pay the difference with my credit card? Thank you.

This happened to us just a month ago. For some reason the SW system wouldn't accept 4 travel funds online so I had to call SW and work with an agent who had to do everything over the phone.

you might have to book two or more separate reservation if you want to use up all the funds

it also depends how many times you got "credit"....each time is spilt out when you try to redeem them such that a 40$ credit might consist of two 20$ credits which means 8 total credits if 4 people are involved

I thought I read here that you could book a random flight, apply your credits, then cancel it. Then all credits would be combined onto one credit #?

I guess you could combine 3, pay the difference (hopefully only a few $$), then use that new #, plus the 4th original credit, and a CC to buy the actual ticket you want.

Or call SW and ask them for help.

Another possibility, are the travel funds being used for the same people originally listed on the travel funds? Travel funds can now only be used by the original ticketed passenger.

Hello! I'm not sure if you've already resolved this with SWA or not?

This happened to us on our last trip and I ended calling them to ask why. I was told that you can only use three "credits" and then the credit card for the remaining amount. There is a limit in their system and I got the same reject message you did. If I remember one of the four credits we had was only $5 so it wasn't that big a deal. I was going to suggest you use the biggest $ ones first, obviously.

Let us know what you find out or if they were able to help you over the phone use all 4.

This was terribly confusing the first time I tried it, but now I get it.

As others in the thread are explaining...

When you pay online, their system only accepts four types of payments, so if you don't have enough travel funds to cover your payment and you need to use your credit card, you can only use three travel funds plus your credit card, totalling four types of payment. Initially I was confused because I had thought it was four travel credits plus your credit card, but it isn't.

There are some ways around this online if you are able to split up your itinerary purchases -- book separate one ways for your trip or buy on itinerary per person (if your travel funds are in their names too).

I had to take off the lower unused travel funds, but they weren't for much. I think I have this resolved now.
