Thanks! Does it matter if we buy one way now and the other later? My return airfare is a lot higher even during the sale. I think it will drop some.

The fine print says:"Fares are available for one-way travel." The only tricky part might be that if they run a sale later that works for your your return but that sale DOES require a round-trip purchase.

Does anyone have any experiece flying out of Richmond? We have never been to that airport. We typically drive 1 hour to fly out of BWI. I'm thinking it would be worth the extra hour drive to fly out of Richmond at those rates. It would save us close to $600 (1/2 price compared to flying out of BWI).

We lived in Richmond for 10 years before moving to the UK. I've flown in and out of the airport many times. It's quite small...only two terminals with 10 or so gates each. Generally, the check-in and security process is quite quick and flights tend to be close to on-time as it's not too busy so things don't back up. There's lots of parking which is pretty inexpensive too. I would definitely recommend it over BWI, which can be a mess. Do you have any specific questions?

Thanks! Nothing specific. Just wondering if it's a descent airport, safe place to leave a vehicle for a week, etc. We have only flown a handful of times and only ever out of BWI, but for roundtrip flights for 5 of us to Florida for under $600 I'm strongly considering this option!!

We were planning on going to Newport News to pick up my brother, and driving down to Orlando from there. Flights for 5 people were averaging $1300. Figured about $400 for gas and $200 for food to drive along with the convenience of having a car, made the decision quite easy to drive.

Just happened to check out of Richmond yesterday and got a rate of $643 (leaving Richmond is $70 instead of $59) for the 5 of us round trip. I JUMPED on that.

We may have spent a night in a hotel on the way back when driving, and the food budget was probably low. I think the flight is cheaper than driving now, and it's going to save us half a day on arrival/departure.

Don't know if it's safe or not as I've never traveled out of there, but (FYI) I saw on their site that you can park for $7/day. Can't beat that rate.

In general, I think it's quite safe. I've left a car there on several occasions and never had any problems. I always use the airport's long term parking (rather than offsite) as I feel more comfortable with that. Of course, a car can be broken into anywhere, but I would certainly feel more comfortable at RIC than at Baltimore or Dulles.

We have used RIC a few times since moving here and its small and easy to maneuver. JetBlue will give you a credit if the price goes down that you can use on your next flight. I just checked and saved $30 on our November flight back from MCO.

We've flown out of Richmond alot. DH traveled for work and we've flown to Orlando each time we've been together.

It's safe and very small for a "big city." (Much smaller than Atlanta for example.. we are from Georgia.) The signage is all very well marked and parking is pretty cheap. We actually park out in the lot and take the shuttle into the airport. One time we parked in the parking garage.

Security has always gone quickly

We flew Airtran out... but plan to fly Southwest this time.

I'd snatch up a two tickets but our travel dates aren't out yet.

oh how i wish these dates went into the end of April. We are trying to go last weekend of April for the Cheer & Dance Worlds and will be driving unless these kind of prices pop up for our dates.
