SWA round trip vs one way fare difference?

This is new to me. I'm looking into booking my flights and for some reason SWA has the return flight listed as $115 when I do a round trip but $205 when I try one way. The flight down isn't a great fare so I thought I'd grab the return now and book the trip down later. But it just won't give me the lower price.

Is this new and is there anything I can do about it?

I'm not sure what is going on. I know you can get flights a little less if you book one passenger at a time but I didn't think one way vs round trip would be a problem. We have been watching March flights out of BWI on weekends for 4 months. Right now, we are driving because they are between 450 and 660 roundtrip. We've never seen anything like it. And, they don't really changed. The only decent flights from our airport are on Tuesdays and Wednesday's. I would keep trying as often as possible.

Sorry about that guys. I see I was looking at the flights to Orlando later in the day. Those were $115 so the return flights never were $115.

Katallo, I sure do sympathize. Normally I fly solo so it's not too bad but on this trip there are 4 of us and the cheapest is over $1600 round trip. That's more than I'm paying for 2 rooms for a week at Pop Century, airfare more expensive then hotel rooms! I'm going in May but traveling on Saturdays so I'm hoping for cheaper but I might get stuck at $1600.

Thanks, Bill. We have other family members as well. The group with 3 children would have to pay over $2400.00 so they are driving as well. They feel that money will buy their tickets. It's too bad. We flew at Halloween on the weekend and paid 272 RT. Huge difference.

I do a lot of my trips one way each way (easier to do price changes that way) and have never had a change in price. Although they use to offer a discount for round trip over one way.


There are times I wish I lived close enough to drive. (19 hours for me). And because I live in a flyover state there is never super airfare prices from my airport.


Funny enough though, I am planning a trip to DLR in May. It's like $100 dollars LESS for me to fly to the west coast than the east coast and Orlando is 1000 miles closer than Anaheim. Go Figure

yeah i was gonna say that you must be mistaken cuz the prices are what they are and the same flight would not change between a round trip and a one way.

For those of you looking for the BWI-MCO fares I did just get a one way from BWI to MCO for $132, normally $205. Not too bad for a Saturday morning flight. Now I just need the return flight.

Thanks, Bill. Our one way in March dropped from 316 to 271. Still not great but maybe there is hope.

Sheesh, and that's why I don't fly on weekends. I wasn't happy booking our flight BWI to MCO for $115 for two of the three of us.
