For whatever reason when so many of the SWA BUF-MCO fares were reduced last week, Dec 19 - Jan 9 was left out of the loop (Christmas season I guess). A few days later some of these fares were reduced from $145 to $109 . Still a little high for me since I don't even consider our dates to be "high season".

FYI, some of these "high season" dates/flights have now been reduced from $109 to $59!!!!!

So if you are flying within this date range, please check your dates/fares. Hopefully you will get a reduction to $59!!!!

btw, we are now flying home for $59 ($54.88 actually) non-stop MCO-BUF!!
I Love southwest!!! :thumbsup2 Glad I waited for southwest to come through for us!!!

I just checked mine and the Friday fare is still 87.44.. sigh.. I will keep checking today to see if it gets further reduced...when did your's go down? I am trying to decide if I book or wait?? What do YOU think I should do?

I should say it is for December 15th, looking at the 9:30 flight from MCO- BUF

Hi there,

I lurk often around here but don't post too often!! We finally decided to go back to Disney after a couple of years of non-Disney vacations :sad2:

Anyway we are going from Sat Jan 27 to Sat Feb 3rd...We have never flown out of Buffalo before but the fare for my dates was $54 per way non stop to Orlando! My family of 4 is flying for $542 total (US) including taxes! I was just about to book what I though was a rock bottom deal for the same dates on air transat from TO for $1600 cdn including taxes.

Any tips on flying Southwest out of Buffalo?

Thanks in advance...

We like to stay over in a hotel the night before our flight so that we can get a comp. breakfast and a free shuttle to the airport, it is a nice way to start the holiday!
Also make sure you check in online 24 hours in advance to get an A boarding pass and you can be the one of the 1st ones on your flight to choose your seat. KEEP CHECKING your dates and if the fare goes down you can rebook at the lower rate. I did this for my friend a week or 2 ago and got him $440 back!!!

That is all I can think of right now but I am sure others will have good suggestions too!

Mousy ... how did you manage to get your friend his money back? And I think it was you who posted recently who said that you have been successful getting refunds to credit card several times? When my DSis called them, and said that because she was a teacher, no way would she use the flights before the 12 month expiry and could she please get a refund, they told her no way, but to call back before expiry and they would extend it. I know someone else who couldn't get a refund. When I got a lower DING last Friday night, there was an option to get the security and landing fees refunded (which I asked for but haven't seen on my cc yet), but the rest was a credit. My DBil has almost $400 in SWA credits ... mine is only $78 (so I'm not too concerned) ... any suggestions for him on how to get even part of it refunded? I guess it all depends on the CM that you get ... or is there a "magical phrase" that you use to get the money back??

Thanks!

I have always been able to get the money back they have never said no yet, what I do is phone the long distance # and ask them nicely when they say I booked a Non-refundable fare I explain I realize that but as you see I stayed on the same flight and the same times and the same number of passengers the ONLY thing that changed is the price. Then they say oh I see that ok you should see the credit on your next statement.

As long as you meet those 3 things they always seem to give the money back.
Good luck $400 is A LOT of money to have them hold!

Looks like the fares only drop on January 4th for a return flight from MCO. We have reservations at WDW for Dec 31 to Jan 3 but haven't been successful in getting a flight yet.

Does getting a reduction on airfare if it goes down in price apply to Air Canada as well?
Thanks,
Liz

I don't think it does, but I have only flown out of Buffalo on SWA so I don't know 100% but I can't see Air Canada giving you money back or a credit to be honest.

There is no refund for a Ding but there can be for a regularly booked online fare(as long as the booked and rebooked flights are the same).

I had booked online flights - internet specials. When I cancelled and replaced with DING fares, I was given the option of getting the security/landing fees refunded to my cc (total of $44 for 8 flights), and the rest as a credit. I may still call them and see what I can do about the other $78 - can't hurt to try. Thanks for the info.

I just got $50 back this morning for re-booking with a Ding fare.. instantly she said "sure I can do that for you" and sent the money back to my credit card.

Give them all call, if they say no call back and ask someone else.

Hi again. I called the 800 SWA number today to try and get my refund. I got the spiel about it being non-refundable, etc. I asked really nicely and explained that I wouldn't be flying again, and told them that the flights are exactly the same. Got a flat-out "no", but "you can call our customer service number ..." I did that (somewhere in Texas). The rep I got said the same thing, but agreed to a "one time thing" but she said she can't refund it right away. She has to follow up 2 days after I fly to make sure that I actually do fly. :confused3 She agreed to do this on Dec 11th and Dec 18th and then process the 2x$38 refunds. I thanked her very much, told her how much I appreciated it, and then asked why some people I know have been able to get immediate refunds on non-refundable fares. She said it absolutely shoudn't happen :rotfl: so I guess we've all been right all along ... depends on the client rep that you get.

I'm OK with the solution she proposed .... a $76 credit on my cc right after a Disney trip is A-OK with me. :thumbsup2
