I'm a very happy camper this morning - SWA just released $54 one-way internet fares, so I was able to book roundtrip for 5 from Kansas City to Orlando in December for $625 total :bounce:

Before that, I'd been looking at $1175! - gotta love it

Isn't it great, I got four tickets at $500 from KC to Orlando. Bad thing though, I originally had tickets on Vanguard that I will probably lose the $$$$$ on, but at least the new ones are cheap.

I, too, had tickets on Vanguard from Kansas City for our December trip. Went ahead and booked Southwest today to lock in that fantastic fare!! I put Vanguard tickets on my credit card, so I should not have any trouble getting a credit. I think I saved about $300 on Southwest. I just hate not having a seat assignment. With Vanguard gone, Southwest is the only carrier to fly nonstop from Kansas City to Orlando. Too Bad!

Hi DISNEYWITHDAUGHTERS AND mouseketeerwannabe - I'm from Lee's Summit, MO - small world, huh? :)

I hope you have no trouble getting a refund from Vanguard. I agree not having a preassigned seat is the pits (especially traveling with a family of 5), but that fare is incredible
:earseek: - cheapest we've ever gotten to Orlando.

Hi fellow Missourians! Just got back from a day of shopping in KC-Independence Center, Kohls, Town Center, and Oak Park Mall--and checked SW's website. Wow! What a great deal $125 rt. Have to wait until tomorrow to book as DH is already asleep and want to make sure its ok with him before I buy them for our November 11-15 trip. My FIL was diagnosed with metastized kidney cancer last month and isn't doing too well but hopefully, he will be much improved by November.

We live in the center of Missouri near Jefferson City so we can fly out of KC or St. Louis but really prefer KC's smaller airport!

Enjoy your Disney vacations!

Donna

donmil723,
So sorry to hear about your FIL' s cancer. My prayers are with him. Hope you were able to get the great airfare. You really need a trip to the magical world of Disney when a family member has been seriously ill.

donmil723 - I'm also sorry to hear about your FIL. Hope all can go as well as possible for him, and that you're able to take your trip.
p.s. we live 3 miles from Independence Center:) !

mouseketeerwannabe and grumpyandbashful, thanks for your good thoughts and prayers.

grumpyandbashful, seems like area around independence center would be a nice place to live but I sure wouldn't want to deal with that traffic on 39th street everyday.

We went ahead and booked with SW for $125 rt and will hope that we can get away. If not, we'll reschedule for another time.

Have a good weekend!

Donna
