I have been watching SWA fares for a while. Current March fares are $129 each way, which is down a little from where they were. I am used to paying a lot less, but I am also used to flying in July. I was wondering if the SWA experts think I need to jump on these fares now, or if you think they will still come down.

What are you used to paying? March fares have been high the last 2 years that I've flown SWA from Albany to Orlando. This year I'm going in April and they've been even worse until TODAY when they dropped to $124 for the flight home (which is all I cared about - the flight there was on RR credits). Since I began tracking prices on 11/1 that flight had ranged from $164-$196, so I was *thrilled* with $124! I also saved a bunch on our babysitter's ticket - she's arriving 2 days later and her RT was originally $521! :scared1: But it dropped a bunch, too ($288 flight down dropped to $191 and $191 flight back dropped to $124).

When I was planning my March 2010 trip, I seem to recall that prices were moderately high at Christmas 2009, then jumped much higher right after. They came down slightly (not to pre-Christmas levels) and I bought my tickets, and then about 25 days prior (maybe fewer, I just can't find my notes right now), they dropped a bit, but that was very unusual IMO. I still think I paid about $250 overall, though.

The moral of this story is - who knows? ;) But depending on where you're traveling from, $129 might be a pretty good fare, and perhaps the best you'll find.
