Due to this Airtrain fiasco at SWF I now need to find new tickets... does SWA even still do Dings on a frequent basis? What have you seen recently Alb-mco. Thank you.

There was one either yesterday or this morning (it's been a long day, can't remember which). It was about $80.00. First one I'd seen in awhile. I was tempted, because I have a friend who was selling some unused credits. But then I remember how hot it is LOL!

We are still waiting for Aug ALB - MCO Dings. They are only offering dates through July at about $73-$83 each way. ALB Dings have been coming out once every couple of weeks.

We have our tickets with AT out of SWF but with the problems, I've been keeping my eye on Ding fares.

If I get a good Ding I'm going to book it and hope AT makes a change to my flights. So I can cancel my AT flight. If AT doesn't make a change, I'll cancel my SW flight and use the SW credit in May 09. This is way too much planning, even for me.

Just make sure they are still carrying the credit for a year if you cancel. They shortened the time frame to 6 mos, if you can't use your credit within a year recently, and pay the $50. I wonder how long before they really make our non refundables, well...nonrefundables.

What Airtran fiasco? Did I miss something? I'm planning to fly either AT or SW out of Buffalo in 2009. I thought I had read all the posts about AT...

As of Sept 4, 2008 they are no longer flying out of Newburgh NY (SWF). It's not a fiasco at all. Just a pain in the butt! ;)

I am calling it a fiasco since they have cancelled my December flight(booked in April BTW) with no notification(and a hard time from their CS reps who were also uninformed) and my August flight is 8/26 and 9/2-way too close to ceasing operations for me not to be worried about it.

I'm sorry I only meant it wasn't a fiasco for all AirTran flights. I didn't mean to diminish any problems you were having. I would be pretty upset if I were in your shoes. As it stands now, I regret booking with AT and they haven't even changed my flight.

Look at all these upstate NY people. Woo-hoo.

Waiting on the ALB-MCO Ding for September.

In the meantime, I have two non-stop flights for $500. Not bad at all, just not as ridiculously low as it was a few years ago.

 I knew that ...and I was kinda backing up what you just posted, wanting to clarify why(the specifics) i felt that...all other Airtran airports are probably alright (for now...:confused3 ) I would not trust an airline that does this so quick...it's the middle of June and they are stopping in 2 1/2 half months:eek: ...seems fast to me, but I am not a Airtran or Airline indistury professional(I only portray one on tv:rolleyes1 )

As far as your flight goes...I would keep my eye open for other flights...you know odds of airtran changing their flight times is 100%.

And I have really loved SWF and Airtran:worried:

Albany to Orlando for $83 One-Way on Flight 3682 Only!

- Flight 3682 is currently scheduled for an evening departure
- Fare is valid for travel Monday-Friday, July 8 through July 25, 2008
- Fare is valid for travel on Flight 3682 only

and ofcourse I am looking for the 26th....maybe tomorrow:badpc:

I hadn't heard about AT leaving Newburgh either. We're booked for 8/13 departure and 8/23 return flights. I hope that this isn't a problem. I haven't seen any decent fares for SW out of Albany yet for that time of year.

We are flying SW out of Albany 9/13 and got roundtrip tix at $198 per person. I haven't seen as many Dings (or at least good ones that would work for us) for that past year or so. They seem to much more specific (certain flight times, etc.).

I wanted to pay no more than $200 per person so I am glad that I bought my tix the day they came out especially when the prices on our same flights just kept getting higher and higher. Sooo glad we didn't wait!

SWA has been faking me out with ALB-MCO flights. The 2nd flight out on our depature day is the nonstop I wanted, but it was $60 more pp than the 1st flight of the day, which went through BWI. So I bought the connection but kept checking the prices every day. The flight I booked has stayed about the same, but the nonstop has only gone up (it's now about $80 more pp).

Then one day I searched and looked at that all important 2nd flight of the day and it had dropped $70! I was so excited!...until I looked over to the left and saw it wasn't the nonstop I wanted, but a new flight...a double connection! ALB-MDW-BWI-MCO. Uh, no thanks. ;)

Then earlier this week there was a Ding for ALB-MCO - the first for my dates. And wouldn't you know, the only flight with a Ding price was that double connection!

Oh well - the airfare we got is still pretty reasonable - $125 pp for 3 of us to go to MCO, $125 for DH to return and $99 each for DS and I to return (DH has to go home a day earlier). That's more than I've ever paid to go to Orlando on SWA, but still reasonable.
