SWA check in with plane change question

Greetings-
A friend of mine is flying BDL - PDX and changing planes in MDW.
Question... when she checks in for the initial leg of her flight (BDL-MDW) does she automatically get her boarding pass for the second leg of her journey? (MDW-PDX) I always fly non stop so I didn't know the answer to this question.

Both legs are SWA...
Please advise or wise ones...
