This is for Gail or anyone else that has booked flights on SWA with connections and uses the online check in.

I am flying next week from Detroit to MCO via SWA with a connection in Chicago Midway.

I know I can get my boarding pass online for the DTW - MDW leg BUT can I also get my boarding pass online for the MDW - MCO leg as well online?

I am getting different answers and the web site that I saw today wasn't totally clear. On the example it shows the second leg of the trip the pax need to get the boarding pass at the airport.

Thanks.

That's the problem with connecting flights on SW. You can not get the second (or third) leg pass till you get to the second (or third) airport. Last flight a SW counter agent told me they were trying to work on that. I try to only book non-stops or flights where you do not have to get off the plane at stops on SW.

There is a rumor on flyertalk that as of this morning you can also check in for your connecting flight. Not sure if this is being tested in selected cities or has been implemented system wide prior to an official announcement. YMMV

Thanks DVCDon and Lewisc!

I know when I flew them in April, I was able to book the first leg from DTW - BNA online, but could not do the BNA-MCO leg from home.

It wasn't a major problem, was able to get *B* boarding passes as soon as we got off the plane at a nearby kiosk and that was with a 2 hour layover.

Guess I will just have to wait and see.

Hope that SW fixes it so you can get boarding passes for all legs.

Last week, on the show Airline one family of six was stranded at the 3rd leg of their flight. Flight was over booked by 14. It was the last flight of the day and the family had to get home - for work/school the next day. Needless to say they weren't very happy- they ended up renting a car and driving 10 hours so they could get home. Shouldn't continuing travelers have some sort of priority?

That episode is what is prompting this question, trip.

One would think that SWA would have it on their pax list that there are connecting passengers that are coming in. I have been on other airlines (NWA) recently that have been held in DTW because connecting passengers were getting in late.

The flight I am on next week has a longer layover, but one that I am taking next month, the connection at BNA is a little tighter.

Pinnie,
I'm not exactly sure when they started this, but yesterday they were handing out boarding cards for all the legs of flight upon intial check in. My flight was non-stop, but they made an announcement in the boarding area --they said--be sure you have the correct boarding card :) --and a woman standing behind me in line confirmed that she received both her boarding cards (For her flight from ALB-BWI and BWI-RDU) upon initial check-in.
I can only assume they permit this with on-line check-in as well, but I have not personally done it since my flight was non-stop...

Pinnie,
PS --I got a big kick out from your title (I'm assuming it was a typo)--..."multiple fights" :) as I sometimes wonder if it comes to that when it comes to the "big seat grab". :)

DC,

You are on to me <G>

When I originally typed it, I realized the typo but I decided to leave it there. Some time it is a multiple fight, isn't it?

we just did a connecting flight from RDU to MDW to STL. I was not able to get boarding pass for the MDW leg, but checked in at the gate and still received an A pass.

this is from a post over on flyertalk by a SW employee

either place (online or airport). The system is up and running with very few problems. I'm glad they waited a little longer than roll out a program the negatively effects our Customer's

so they must have included it in their last software update

now to see if anyone here can use it...

I am happy to report that I was able to check-in for both legs of my flight(s) to New Orleans! Thank you SWA!
