SWA changed my flight time.

Having traveled with SWA for 10+ years, I have been thrilled that once their schedule was published, it didn't change.

I was looking at my December flight (always checking prices). My 7:05 a.m. flight was no longer listed. There was now a flight at 6:4 a.m. with the same flight number.

If I look on "My Trip Details" it lists two reservations with the same flight number, one at 7:05 and one at 6:40.

I am surprised they haven't contacted me yet with the new flight time. I am just waiting to see how long it takes.

Not a big deal, but glad I check frequently. I would hate to miss a flight because they moved the time up 25 minutes.

I just noticed our return flight, early October was moved forward a half hour. Haven't received email notice for it or the arrival one that moved 20 minutes earlier (not sure when that happened but at least a month ago).''

AT changed flight times often, rarely did SWA in the past. Note to self to check for changes.

JetBlue has been changing lots of flight times too Others do it frequently, although SWA not so much. Times for our Aulani trip on Delta changed 4 times inducing changing flight numbers twice and having to get new seats.

I got an email notice early this morning that our December return flight has been changed to depart 30 minutes earlier than the original time. Not a big deal, but I was surprised because I've never had SW change a schedule on me before.

I don't know if it's because they are in the final stages of the merger with AirTran. They are sending AirTran's 717's to Delta at a rate of 2 or 3 a month and also repainting their 737's to SW colors so it might be causing schedule changes as they move aircraft around.

AirTran's last day is December 28.

A quick update, since my earlier post I received ANOTHER email notification, as well as a phone call from SW. It sounds like they're making a lot of changes today, so anyone who hasn't heard from them yet likely will soon. I love their customer service.

I just got my call from SWA, to let me know that the flight time had changed and to see if it worked for me.

I didn't ask if they would change me at no additional cost.

Posters on FT suspect the schedule adjustments are being made to try and improve Southwest's dismal on time performance. Having the first flight of the day leave earlier supports that theory.

I've read flights out of DC have had a lot of tweaking.

Mine has been changed 3 times since I booked in March. A time change, then another time change because they added a flight and then a cancellation of that flight and put me on a 6am flight. It's going to be a killer because we're not near the airport but it gets us to Disney by noon and no huge layovers. The only other flights had a 4 hour layover and I'm not sitting in an airport in St Louis for 4 hours with 2 kids.

What??! I thought Southwest never changed flight times or had flight delays! ;);)

We also had a flight change today. They called and emailed us. It was moved to leave 40 minutes later. It's the last flight of the day and already felt too late but the only other non-stop leaves at 2pm and eats precious vacation time so we just agreed to the change. In fairness, they did say without asking we were entitled to a free change to any flight home we wanted. This is also the first flight change in 10 trips with them. I am pleased with the service.

I woke up to 3 emails from SW this morning. First said my RR account has been credited points, 2nd said I have booked travel with my RR points, and the 3rd was a confirmation for a flight. This is all happening for a day that I already had a flight booked with SW, (12/9) a different flight than this new email was for. I went to SW and looked up the reservation to try and figure out what the heck was going on. It appears that the flight that I had originally booked (afternoon flight) has completely disappeared off their schedule and they took it upon themselves to choose a new flight for me, refund my original points and rebook using new points? Never once having called or emailed me??? :confused3

I didn't like the flight the they chose so I tried to change it. The system wouldn't let me change it so I canceled it altogether and rebooked the flight I preferred (all the same point value). My original flight was going from Orlando to Omaha, via St. Louis. Now the only options for that day are to go through Chicago. I try and avoid that if possible since there are always delays in Chicago so I'm not thrilled!

Now the big problem is my 12 year old DD is flying with me. Since I booked using points she has a different confirmation number. I have received no emails or anything for her reservation. When I try to look it up on the SW site I just get an error message. I tried to just switch it, and to cancel it, again error message. There hasn't been any points for her flight refunded into my RR account either.

I have emailed SW and asked what the heck and how can I get a flight for my DD. She said she's fine with staying at WDW forever, but I don't think that's a rational plan! ;)

I've flown SW many, many times over the years and have never even had a time change so this is really odd to me!

Looks like some morning flights are being given earlier departure time. Looks like some afternoon flights are being given later departure times. A few flights might be cancelled.

Sounds like the speculations are correct. Southwest is making changes to improve their, current, dismal on time statistics.

Interesting. The flight I mentioned up thread that was changed has us all on different confirmation numbers. My dd and ds are on one together, dh is on another, and finally I am on a third and my flight was the only one booked with points. Dh, dd's and ds's flights have been changed to reflect the new time (same flight, just now leaving a half hour later). If I go into my account, my flight still shows the old time. I'll leave it a few more days but suspect it's fine.
It would also appear several flights for December 14th out of MCO have disappeared.

I got a phone call and an email today from Southwest changing our 6:40 a.m. flight to 6:25 a.m. out of Columbus, Ohio this is for Thanksgiving Day.

Southwest is becoming more like the legacy airlines every day.:)

UGH - say it ain't so!

I fly them twice a month and they are my go to (of course my real love is my boss' G200). Hope for a smooth flight tomorrow - since I have a concert upon arrival into LAX.

SW called tonight regarding the email I sent asking about my 12 year DD's reservation. They switched my reservation to a different flight (without contacting me) yet did nothing with my DD's accompanying reservation. When I tried to look hers up all I got were error messages and I couldn't change it. They finally called tonight to tell me they got DD on the flight with me and they apologized for leaving her behind when they switched me. They had no explanation for why our original flight disappeared from their schedule.

Got an email that our flight home from Christmas trip was rescheduled two hours later too. I was like ok, but that shoots any chance we had to see family that night. So when SW called to make sure that would work for us, I asked if they might consider adjusting our outbound flight to an earlier one I wanted (but was too much more $). I figured I'd be laughed off the phone, but the agent sweetly asked which flight I preferred and promptly made the change. No charge!I So in love with Southwest's customer service!!

Just a heads up…
I wrote earlier that my husband and kids had been changed to the later flight time but my confirmation was still showing the old time. Called in today and sure enough I hadn't been rebooked. The lady I spoke to fixed it for me. Just as I was getting off the phone I thought to ask if my EBCI was still there. Nope. So she added it back on. After getting off the phone I thought I better check the other reservations. The kids still had their EBCI, but my husbands was gone. I had to call in and get that added back too. It's annoying because I am pretty sure EBCI works in the order it was purchased. So I am guessing since I purchased it when these flights opened that the kids will have a much better boarding position than dh or I, as it appears we just purchased it today.
What's more concerning is that if I hadn't thought to ask and look, we wouldn't have had it all.
So those of you who have had your flights changed, I highly caution you to go into your reservation and make sure everything is as it should be.
