SWA & bag fees

My thots in the same boat (plane).

I have nothing in writing to back up the convo Even if rep was accurate, SWA could easily change the new/existing terms down the road to negate any LUV still
Floating about

We have enough points & credits to take us thru good portion of '26 on SWA.

After that will consider flying Allegiant more often. The Mr gets seat assignments & complimentary luggage perks as he was military

Would fly them more, just that every flight we've been on has been late or had equipment issue. When they only fly a couple days a week from our area to SFB that could be a huge issue

not a fan of of their inconvenient flight times & that fog laden AM drive to SFB either

Spirit only other NS option for us into MCO They've cancelled on us multiple times after repeated gate delays @ MCO for afternoon/evening flights to PIT & LBE

It's truly the lesser of the 3 evils at this point lol
I knew you knew better than to accept what you're told over the phone at face value. Especially when there is at least one outright falsehood in that conversation. SW CC's are automagically linked to the cardholders RR account. The benefit is only for cardholders, not AU.

Also, cardholder is entitled to claim the luggage perk for up to a total of 8 pp, whose tix they purchased

The following comment threw me,
rep insisted:

-u do not have to use a SWA CC to purchase the actual flights in order to get the luggage fee waived upon checkin...as long as u have a SWA CC linked to ur RR account

-also, flights booked with credits, points & point+cash are eligible for the luggage fee waiver for SWA Cc holders
I believe all of this to be almost correct. The cardholders needs to be on the same PNR as everyone else to get the free bags. Who paid and how is irrelevant. SW initially said that the bags would have to be paid for with the SW CC and then they would get credited, they have since changed that to follow industry standard, holding the card puts a note in your account that you get a free bags, same way it works with my Delta and American cards.

That's the one comment that did surprise me

She doubled down on it tho, said as long as it's listed as in an AU account, it will cover the first checked bag luggage fee

My travel is grandfathered in re luggage with them thru Dec

Dont plan on new booking them until an April flight, and will use credit or points. Guess I'll find out then or sooner if others report their experiences

If AU don't get the luggage break, was wondering if I could just transfer my RR points to the Mr. Not sure if permissible or fee involved there tho?

I don't have a SW CC. When you were added to the account as an AU, did you give them your RR#? A quick google search shows a price of 1 cpp to transfer, which almost completely negates the value of the points.

Well, point transfer strategy out then

When you were added to the account as an AU, did you give them your RR#?
IDK it's a long standing card

My online RR account has had the card linked as primary payment

Generally, would use in the past just for getting the extra RR points accrued when booking via that CC

The points always did post to his card, even if booking didn't include the Mr

Just wish they'd be a bit more clear as to these sorts of details and post them clearly on the website. The info that is there is limited

a discussion with a customer service rep is not necessarily verifiable. I'm not blaming them or accusing of providing false info They can only speak on it as to their understanding of whatever training was provided

Chase is very clear in their T&Cs about who gets the benefit, only the primary cardholder.

Just for a data point I am the authorized user on my husband's SWA Premier CC. I have my own CC but it's the same number as his. All purchases are connected to his RR number, they do not go under mine.
