SWA at PHL recently?

Has anyone recently used Southwest at PHL? I was wondering if they started calling out the boarding passes in groups ie A's 1 thru 5 then 6 thru 10.

I flew in and out of Philly in August(25th) and again in October(8th)...nope they were still doing the usual Preboard-A-B-C.

I asked DH about this, he flew PHL to MCO on SW a week ago tonight, and they are still only doing the letter cattle call. No numbers yet. But the preboarders other than medical are boarding after the "A's" now.

According to the SWA website the numerical boarding should start tomorrow 11/1 so we shall see.

I fly out of Philly on 11/2 and return on the 6th so I will post my experience sometime on the 7th if anyone is interested.

I flew out of Philly on Oct. 29th and was told that the new boarding process will start on Nov. 8th. I used it in San Antonio 3 weeks ago and it works well!!

I'm also flying out of Philly on Fri - I was hoping they would be starting the number system tomorrow like they said before. I actually like the idea of a number on it so that you don't have to wait in line. Oh well - maybe next time!

My DD is flying out tomorrow (11/1). She is number 4 in the A group. She gets in late tomorrow night so I will post what happens with the boarding lines after I hear from her.

Thanks for the replies friends! My countdown is off by a day, I'm actually leaving this evening so I'll find out when I get to the airport. It sounds like they won't be calling out the numbers on this trip. I'll experience it fully in Jan.

DD just called from the airport. SW is not using the number system yet. They are still using the A, B, and C lines. No pre-boarding with children so the lines are all very crowded. She said that people are already in the A line 2 hours before the flight is scheduled to leave.

My husband and I flew SW out of PHL to PDX on 10/3 and returned on 10/13. Both legs of the trip medical preboards were called, A's were called, then family preboards, B's and C's. Lines were not too bad at all and our flights were full both legs of the trip. We never get in line .........just sit and wait until the end of the A line is getting close and then get up to board.
