Just checked Southwest and the fares for May have gone down. I am waiting for a call back now to adjust my tickets prices and I'll save about 1/2 of what I paid. Other months may have as well but those are the ones I have been watching.

As someone who has never flown Southwest, if I book a flight using the "Wanna getaway" fare, will I still get refunded the difference if the price drops? TIA!!

Wanna Get Away fares are non-refundable so you get a credit good for a future flight. You must travel within one year of the date you booked the original flight. Example: You book a flight today (12/23/2016) for travel in May 2017. In March 2017, the price of your flight drops so you use the "Change Flight" option on Southwest's website to reprice your flight. You now have a credit for the difference that can be applied to the price of a flight that departs no later than 12/23/2017 (or maybe 12/22/2017).

The credit is tied to the original passenger so if you reprice your flight and get a credit, the Travel Funds that you get back can only be applied towards another ticket for you. To use those funds when purchasing another ticket, you enter the confirmation number of the flight that generated those funds so save that original confirmation number when you reprice a flight.

Had May trip drop in price yesterday PIT-MCO too. Noticed my dates in Feb dropped slightly too

Enough of credit now that I may cancel one of my upcoming flight legs I booked on points and pay cash.

PHL-MCO rates actually went up from when they were 1st posted for a Mid-May trip. I check everyday hoping to catch the "price drop". Right now a non-stop round trip flight w/o EBCI is $302.00.

What the previous poster said is true about the refunds. I booked my flights with points (which I earned from the SW card sign-up bonus and the CSR sign-up bonus) so my points were just refunding to my account.

I am going to keep watching and hoping they go down more. Sometimes they are as low as $50 from Chicago.

Same at BWI. Our rates doubled from opening day unless you fly on Tuesday or Wednesday.

OK, got it! Thank you!

Prices here have not changed here; but the flight time has. (only 5 minutes)

Just checked my trip I booked with points 2-9 May and they've actually gone up for my flights (BWI -> MCO).

What happens to the early bird portion if I change flights to a lower fare? I do not want that messed up. Do I have to do anything with that as well?

No, your Early Brid automatically transfers to the new flight. I've switched flights with EB multiple times without a hitch.

I tried changing my flight to the cheaper air fare and it says I can not. I wonder if it is because there is also a lap baby listed under this reservation. I will have to call.

Looks like because my flight is on the day the southwest airline system changes anyone who has made a reservation from May 9 on will have to call to get credit for cheaper fares

EBCI is tied to your reservation confirmation number. If you use Southwest's "Change Flight" option to reprice your flight, your confirmation number stays the same so EBCI stays in place. If you cancel and rebook, you get a new confirmation number and your EBCI will disappear when you cancel your original reservation.

We have tickets for mid May and didn't have a problem changing to a lower rate online and getting a credit. Maybe it was a temporary issue? :confused3
