I keep hoping Southwest will bring the outbound flight price back down to what it was a week or so ago .. in the meantime .. should I go ahead and book the return flight since it's at a great rate $59 while it's still that low rate and then just hang on a little bit longer to see if they drop the outbound price? I have never booked them separately before so don't know if it's wise to do so or not.

I almost always book my flights separately. As long as you are sure you will definately be flying Southwest, I would book the $59 flight and wait on the other.

I just booked my flight to Orlando on 8/1 and booked the return flight on 8/12 when the price was cheaper.:thumbsup2

Thanks!!! Don't know why I hadn't thought of doing that sooner .. will go and book it now.

We've done this multiple times. It means you're committed to getting to Disney some way, but you're not limited to booking SWA for the outbound flight. I check various arilines for the one-way rate when booking.

Air fares are always a gamble. You may end up paying even more if you don't book now, or there could be a sale or a Ding. At least if the price goes down on SWA, you'll get a credit to use within the year (or can give or sell it to a family member/friend if you won't use it).

We just did that on our flight at the end of the month. We didn't get any good "dings" this trip. Very disappointing.:sad2:

After our first return flights a few years with SW, we got a ding rate for 1 direction. But in order to use Ding we had to cancel the flight and rebook under ding. But one direction went up, and the ding rate was down, (they off set each other) Since then i always book separate. This time when i booked our Feb flights, when i tried them separate, the rates came higher when i did one way booking :confused3 But because i am using credits, it made no difference this year as i won't need a ding rate so i booked return.

if you can book the one way at that price do it before it goes up. there is no difference with SW to do return. But plug in the one way booking and see what the price comes up as
