This is our first time flying SW and I am having a medical issue with my ankle and can't walk long distances. We will be bringing (and using) my folding wheelchair for our WDW trip. Does SW just "gate-check" the wheelchair? First time taking a trip with the wheelchair too so I'm not sure how it is taken care of. Thanks for any info :)

Yes. You will need to get a blue sleeve from the gate attendant so you can preboard with medical needs. Your chair will be tagged and gate checked. You will need to wait a bit at your destination for them to bring the chair up for you at the gate.
