I've flown SW once nonstop a few years ago. Now the only flights available have 1 stop with only 35 minutes to change planes.

First, is this enough time to change planes?

Second, how does boarding work on the second leg? When I check in 24 hours in advance am I checked in for both legs? Do I get assigned a group for each leg? Arriving only 35 minutes before the next plane departs, it seems like we'd be boarding last anyway. I'm not sure if I want to try this with kids. They are old enough, but would prefer sitting with at least one of us.

The planes will probably be in the same terminal, so if your first flight is on time, you'll make it. However, taking into consideration the time it will take you to get off one plane and make your way to the other, and the fact that the next plane will be boarding before the 35 minute take-off time, you probably won't be able to make your boarding group if you are in A or B (although this isn't certain). It's too close a connection for me, except in the smallest of airports.

You will get boarding passes for both flights when you check in.
