SW unavail. become avail.?

Im watching 2 nonstop flights on SW that the internet and Promotional fares are unavailable. The next price up (129.) is avail. Will the unavail. fares open up again under the lower price or will I have to pay the higher price for NS or go to a different flight to get a lower price?

They could or they may not. It can be frustrating!

I was watching an unavailable fare for a couple of months. The morning that the new schedule was released that column opened up for a short amount of time and I switched our tickets (went from an airport that was 130 miles away to one that is 13 miles)

Yes it does happen occasionally.......as above poster said "schedule opened up on the day a new sale was announced". Sign up for email notification of sales, etc. and check faithfully every day......I've had nonavail. fares open up several times in the past. Typically, as you get closer to your travel dates (not super close, but, maybe within two months) and only the lowest fares have been sold the airline will open up more seats at the lower prices. I've found if all fares but the two highest are showing as unavailable you're usually out of luck and I book another flight. Keep in mind you could always book a different flight at the lower price and if the one you want does open up just change it.......SW doesn't charge change fees, but, you will then have a credit (ticketless travel fund) that you'll need to use within one year of the original date you first booked.

I've also seen it open up. They change their sales on Tuesday morning. BNA and BHM to MCO had either been switching between 139 each way for internet fare and Unavailable each week. Then last Tuesday, 59 each way popped in for all flights at internet fare. (This is for mid-September).

As other posters said, if it is getting really close and more than two or three categories and showing up unavailable, then only a possible last minute Ding! will get you a lower fare.
