Our MCO to PIT flight for 11:40am on Oct 4 was sold out as of Thursday 8/20. I can't believe it's completely sold out that far ahead of time. :scared1:
Well, if there are any "bumps" offered, DH and I will definately and happily:goodvibes put off flying out till the 7:20 non stop flight as long as a nice perk is offered for the switch.

I flew PIT-MCO in June both flights were showing unavailable but I don't think they asked for volunteers. I know on both flights they said they were completely full, no empty seats. I think on the way down the last person on said they could not find a seat but the FA did find one (possibly a lap child was taking a seat who should not have).

Our MCO-PIT flight on 10/12 at ~7 pm is now showing as sold out as well. They've really dropped the prices recently, which could be the reason for that.

As stated above, SWA has dropped their prices considerably, at least for flights we are interested in, while other airlines have hiked their prices drastically. It doesn't make sense!

SW has increased their prices for my flights! I regularly get a (non ding) fare of $99 each way and the prices now are $199-$249 each way!

I may have to cancel my trip if I can't find reasonable airfare.

10/04 is a Sunday, typically the route's weekend flights are very popular, still it's surprising to see it sell out completely, usually the more pricey fares will still appear.

Last flight we flew on SW from PIT to MCO (the crack of dawn 1st NS:rolleyes1), it was oversold...nothing new there. They were offering the following:

-refund of ticket
-voucher for future travel
-connection w/stop in BWI to MCO

im still kicking myself for not jumping @ the chance.

I just flew that route on 8/19 and 8/26. From PIT to MCO was 100% full. On the return there was one seat vacant. Both dates were a Wednesday.

Wow. We're flying PIT to MCO and back -- Monday 9/7 (Labor Day) through Wednesday 9/16. I was just looking at changing from the last nonstop on the 7th to the first nonstop last night. All flights for my dates are still available. I even checked for 8 people and they were all available, so not too close to selling out from what I can see. There are still even "wanna get away" fares listed for all but one flight, in both directions.

I wonder if that means that early September won't be so busy at Disney? Hey, it's a stretch but I can hope can't I? :rotfl:

As for my flight dilemma...
I'm not sure I want to pay the $50 difference (total, for two people) to arrive at MCO at 11:15 am vs. 9:15 pm. I originally chose the late flight so we wouldn't be rushed. We live over 1 1/2 hours from the airport, always take the early flight, and I never get any sleep the night before. Now I'm second guessing my choice, lol. I'm losing an entire 1/2 day at Disney!

I always have that dilemma too! I always want to get there first thing on my first day and leave last thing on my departure date. Getting the most Disney time is worth $50 imo! :thumbsup2

Yesterday, SW offered 200 compensation plus value of tix for bumping. The next flight was NOT a non stop though and arrived hours later. SOme people took it though...............
Good Luck!

Man, US Air looks really smart now for dropping this route, hmmm?

US has pretty much abandoned PIT. About the only flights they have left are into their hubs (PHL, CLT, PHX), plus a few express flights. They also stopped West Coast service, United just took over PIT-LAX and PIT-SFO. The county built this huge airport for them, now it is half empty.:sad2:

I just switched my tickets to the early flight. What's another $50 considering how much we're spending already, lol.

I've never had a problem with USAir and I've flown alot of miles with them, but when the stopped the nonstop flights out of PIT, I looked to other airlines.

I wish another airline would consider making PIT a hub. It's a beautiful airport and I make a long drive to get there as it's the only airport I use. Alot of the travel agents suggest folks here in central PA fly out of BWI, no thank you.

MaryT - I agree about going to PIT rather than BWI. PIT is a fairly decent
2 hour jaunt over the mountain, to a very nice, mostly uncrowded airport.
BWI would take at least 3 hours of heavier traffic and a more crowded airport. It's worth the extra $10 or $20 per ticket to fly out of PIT and avoid the hassle.

I don't think we will see hub service again. There just aren't enough local passengers to support it. Other airlines have scaled back their hubs in smaller cities - Cincinnati is probably going to end up like PIT, Delta is cutting back flights and they recently closed the express terminal.

Other airlines have increased the number of PIT flights to their hubs to pickup some of USAir's passengers but no new destinations except Paris.
