Quick question:
I have the SW Visa and a ton of rewards points. We have a trip booked for this June that we are not sure we'd be able to take (currently 50/50, depends on the health of our son). If I book our tickets using SW points and have to cancel, am I correct in my understanding that the points go right back into the account? No restrictions like I have to use them in the next year like the travel funds?

Is there any reason I shouldn't book the flights now?

Yes, I've done it.

I would book it. If the prices goes down and less points are required, you can do a modify and the excess points will go back to your account.

Correct. If you book with points and have to cancel, your points will just go back to your account and can be used when ever, no restrictions. They don't have to be used by a certain time as they never expire.

I would go ahead and book now. If flight prices go down, you can always rebook at the cheaper rate and get points back.
