SW has opened their book until the beginning of June. When I look on Travel Tools, it says on Dec 16th it will open up until June 30th. Is this a typo? I was hoping for at least July.:confused3

That doesn't seem right to me either. We are going in July and I had looked at Travel Tools sometime last month and marked Dec 16 on my calendar, so I know it did not say June 30th then. Seems like it would be an awful lot of work for them to release the schedule for just 3 weeks. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Regarding SW, can anyone comment on how far in advance they usually open. We are traveling to CA in late July, early August and I would like to check out their fares.

Also, generally, has does anyone have any tips in "multiple destinations"? We hope to fly from a NY State Airport to LAX. Stay for several days and drive up to the San Francisco bay area for a few more days. Then fly home from one of those airports.

So our plan would be two one-way tickets.

1. from NY to LAX
2. from San Jose, or another close airport to NY.

Tips? Tricks? We are already thinking of flying in on a Monday and home on a Tuesday.

Thanks!

Probably not a mistake, but it always can change. When they first announced the Dec. 16 release date it was for bookings through Aug. 8, so it's changed once already. SWA does from time to time open just a few weeks for booking for whatever reason.

July and early August dates have opened for booking in November the past few years. You can check this thread for a list of release dates in prior years to give you some idea of when various dates have opened for booking. Obviously they are running a few months later at this point. Who knows why.

No real tips needed for the different airports. Figure out where they fly out of that would be convenient and compare prices and schedules. SWA flies out of all three Bay Area airports currently.

Part of the short release time might be the integration of AirTran flights, which is supposed to be complete by the end of 2014. They are sending the AirTran 717's to Delta at a rate of 3 a month and painting the AirTran 737's to SW. So as the year goes on, there should be less AirTran and more SW.

The site says: On December 16, 2013, we will open our schedule for sale through June 30, 2014. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently. I would check back frequently.
