DS loves to watch "aquatic critters" of all kinds & GKTW/Make-A-Wish will be giving us tickets for SW but I am wondering if it's very "friendly" for those who are very disabled? He's 5 & in a wheelchair, not that interested in shows but likes to see the animals. Granted there are other members of our group who will like to see most of the park and DS does like milder rides so it won't be a bust but I wonder if he'll be able to see the animals and enjoy it? (I haven't been to SW in probably 15+yrs.)
Any hints or tips? TIA!!
I would say take him to Sea World! Send the rest of the family off to see the shows. And set off on a wonderful adventure with your son.
He can put his hand in the ray tank.
See and hear the Seals at the feeding tank.
SW has feeding of dolphins, seal lions, sharks and rays available.
There is a baby dolphin pool you can watch the babies play.
There are huge viewing windows to watch dolphins, walrus, beluga and Shamu underwater.
He can see the Horses and maybe even have a pic taken with them.
If you are there early enough in the day, you might get to see the flamingo's walk thru the park.
Pets Ahoy has a BUNCH of rescued animals that preform their own show and have a meet and greet(hands on) after the show. (The wheelchair viewing for this is right in front of the stage, so your son may really enjoy this as the action takes place right in front of him)
SW also have a great First Aid (actually two). One is located at the front of the park, the second is in Happy Harbor. They have curtained areas and a treatment room and companion restroom.
If you have ANY questions, please let me know. We go to SW alot and very rarely do we go to the shows.
