Debating on early bird check in. Flying out of Flint (smaller airport) on a Tuesday in July (after the 4th) and returning on a Tuesday.

Do you think it's necessary for our flights? We are flying with another family so 10 of us together and are pretty flexible in how we are willing to sit, but I would like at least in groups of 2...I am planning on buying it for our return flight but wondering if it's worth it still since I didn't do it yet..

No way of knowing for certain if you'll 'have' to have it. Because so many people are buying it now, those that don't buy it are finding themselves having less seating choices.
I pretty much just think of the addtl fee as a fee for one piece of checked luggage. I just lump it with the fare and be done with it.

We fly SW pretty exclusively and have never had an issue sitting together without EBCI. That said, I'm pretty obsessive :scared: about being online to check us in right at the 24 hour mark so we get the highest boarding number we can without it. We're a family of 4 and having a bigger group could make a difference. If you're at all concerned about it, I would just purchase for peace of mind. :goodvibes

I would buy it. It is one less thing to worry about. Travel is stressful enough.

Are you flying non-stop or do you have a connecting flight at some point? If you don't have to change planes, it's probably not necessary if you can check in at 24 hour mark. (How many separate confirmation numbers will you have to check in?) If there is a connecting flight, the 2nd flight is where you may run into trouble with boarding numbers. On a recent flight, we had A passes for our first flight, but got High B numbers (50 and 51) for our connection. We were still able to sit together on the 2nd flight. A lot of people buy it for their return flights. We just stop where we are and check in with our phones 24 hours before, but we are 2 adults who don't HAVE to sit together.

Thank you for the replies! We are flying nonstop both ways. One confirmation number per family. (2 families)
