SW credits, expiration extensions ??

I have looked on this board, can't find the answer.

I ended up with all sorts of SW credits, and many expire before April next year. I have credits from the credit card offer, LUV vouchers (long story there), and regular credits. I have used up most of them, but now have 2 credits (both in my name), one for $200 and one for about $150. They expire in January (same date). I also have one for my son for about $200.

SW allows you to extend these if you call after they expire? They charge $50 for each one? Should I book something in my name, apply both of my credits, then cancel, to combine these into one reservation number to save $50? then I would only pay $50 to extend the credit for me (vs $100), and also pay $50 for my son?

And I read they extend for 6 months from the date you request the extension? So if I want these for October, wait until late April to request the extension?

yes you are right SW does charge the $50

The only to get the correct answer is to call them direct!!

I think you might have to wait close to the expiration date but NOT after is it is all expired

You do have to wait until after the credits expire to extend them. You can extend for six months at a cost of $50 per credit.

I did not know you can extend credits. I thought that only applied to vouchers for free trips. Thanks for the info.

To the OP: credit now must be used by the person who originally "owned" the ticket. Therefore, you cannot use both your ticketless funds and your sons ticket into one.
