SW change reservation and credits question

I was wondering if you get a credit for the difference of your original flight cost and a new, reduced price if you only change the reservation. In the past, I would have cancelled my reservation and then rebooked at the new fare and gotten the rest of the credit to use later.

However, we purchased EBCI on these tickets and they were round trip. So the return flight is not reduced, and I think the EBCI does not give you any credit back. It's non-creditable (word?). Once we cancel these tickets, we would loose the EBCI. BUT if I just change the reservation, I can keep my return flight unchanged and the EBCI still applies to my new flight.

Can I change a flight to the same flight, but now at the lower rate? Does this make any sense???;)

Yes you can. Just go to Change flight and put the confirmation number and your name. You will then have an opportunity to check either your departure or return flight. It will then send you to the current price for the flights available for that day. I have changed my flight several times in the last week to take advantage of lower fares.

Thanks, I just did it, no problems. Just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up my EBCI. Thanks for the prompt response. Got an $85 credit. Better than nothing!:thumbsup2

Hope you guys have dug out from the storm. We just got hit and it was a doozy!

As long as your confirmation number remains the same, your EBCI remains intact.
