Hello, all you knowledgeable DISers! DH and I may need to cancel a flight on SW next week due to my mother's illness. Mother was going to travel with us.
Can anyone tell me how SW handles a situation like this? I have seen threads about SW credits and wondered if they were more lenient than other carriers about cancellations or rescheduling.

DH tried to research on SW website but was only able to find the link to actually cancel.

TIA!

When you cancel they give you the price of the flight in future credit to book another flight. You have a year to re-book but check the fine print to see when that year starts. I've done it several times with no problems.

You could even call them to do it.

They will give you a credit to use for future flights up to 1 year from the original ticket issue date. If it's a serious illness, you can try to see if they will make an exception with medical documentation and give you a refund.
