Sushi at California Grill?

My girlfriend and I are wondering how the sushi is at California Grill. Any fellow sushi fanatics out there who could offer some info? We're not expecting it to be on par with our place in the village (you New York sushi fans know the place I'm talking about!), but then few places are! We are quite excited about our evening at California Grill, and are curious to know of your opinions. Thanks!

We are right there with you on the sushi level and while I wouldn't say it is as adventurous as let's say Blue Ribbon or someplace like that, I would say it was prepared very nicely. We wound up with the tuna triple and were pleasantly pleased. Nice presentation, good quality, and nicely cut.

Thanks! Yeah I wouldn't expect it to be all that adventurous, but I do like creative and unique preparations. The sashimi and nigiri look pretty standard, but of course as long as it's fresh and well cut that's fine. Perhaps we'll have the tuna three ways and a couple of the specialty rolls, which look interesting. We're just thinking that it might be a nice change-up for our visit.
Does anyone else have any insight on this?

The sushi chef at the California Grill Yoshi is the number 3 sushi chef in the world as far as I have heard.

Hi there! Sushi at the California sound like so much fun! My DH and I love sushi, but here in Alaska finding good sushi is a true mission .

Do you have to make reservations if you planning on just going for sushi, or is there a sushi bar?
