Now it is totally clear regarding Jeff's response to Jonny Fairplay's flippant remark during last season's finale. He has to be the Survivor that took the title from Jerri of being the Survivor we most love to hate. He took the title from her and made it worse than ever.

Tuli - remind me which remark that was?

I found it interesting that Jeff seemed really concerned that Jenna was getting inside information. Makes you wonder if it was more than just her heart telling her to go hom.

I have to say I'm not a really big fan of Jenna's, but I felt so bad for her last night. I know people feel that she shouldn't have gone in the first place, but who knows what the situation was. Her family and her mother might have told her to go. She probably convinced herself everything would be okay and she would only be gone for a month, but then when she got to the island, she probably realized a month was a really long time and that's when she made her decision to go home. I'm just so glad she was able to make it home before her mom died. I'm sure it was a great comfort to her mother that she was there, as Jenna is her only child.

I don't think she had any outside information -- Sometimes, when you *need* to be somewhere, you just *know* you need to be there. I've had that happen, my mom's had that happen, I've had friends who had that happen. Sometimes, you just know.

As for the boat -- I think it was one of 3 things. Jeff has to come to the challenges *somehow*, and I think they always show him coming or leaving on boat when they do show him coming/leaving. So the boat may have been out there already. They also may need to have the boat available in case someone gets hurt at the challenge, as someone else said. And third, we know these always take longer than they show on TV, they may have stood there long enough to have called in a vote.

It also wouldn't surprise me if the camera men reported what was coming to Jeff. Obviously the camera crew knew what was going on before the challenege, and I somehow think at least one of them has a radio to call back to "home base".

As for Jenna being there. I've been saying she shouldn't ever have come, but the more I think about it, the more forgiving I am for her being on the show. If things were status quo when she left, she may have needed a break for a while. If things looked like her mom would be able to hold on without a problem for a month, then why not? But when she got out there and *knew* her mom had taken a turn for the worse...

I think that Jeff made that comment abt her getting "inside info" for our benifit. He wanted to make it clear to the audience that she was not getting info.

The boat, I think there is alway one around during a challange. After all, Jeff has to get away.

Besides, we don't know how long she waited for it to come. Remember, we only see abt 5 minutes of TC when in reality it can take an hour or more. Dramatic editing.

I'm so glad Jenna got to see her Mom. She would have regreted it the rest of her life if she had not gone.

*LMAF* when Sir Richard BIT the shark!!!

We were visiting family last night, so I just watched the show this morning. I have never cried while watching Survivor ( I have at Disney commercials) but I cried today and really gasped when I saw the closing remarks. Like someone else has said, I knew that her mother had died, but had no idea how soon after she got home.

And poor Rupert! I love him dearly, but all I can think of now is the song my children learned in Sunday School: "Don't build your house on the sandy land, don't build it too near the shore; It might look kinda nice but you'll have to build it twice, yes you'll have to build your house once more!" I'm going to check the CBS website to see how they faired in the storm!

Do the survivors see anyone other than the crew other than when they see Jeff at challenges and TC? It's very possible that Jenna gave someone a heads up that she was thinking of doing this. If it was me, I wouldn't want to throw someone a major curve ball like that.

And I agree that Jeff did say that for the benefit of the viewing audience. He wanted to remove any hint of collaboration.

The producers (and Jeff) watch what is taped during the day so they certainly knew what frame of mind Jenna was in.

Pixiemomma, I agree that they must watch what is taped during the day because Jeff always knows what questions to ask to prompt discussions on what was going on, either at challenges or TC.

If you look at the sand when Jenna is walking into the water to the boat, to the right of her footprints, there are several other sets of footprints in the sand which I presume is from Jeff and the camera crew being dropped off, and the boat is probably kept just off camera.

I thought last night's episode was good, but painful to watch for several reasons:

I hated seeing Rupert being such a dolt. Hasn't he ever heard to build a foundation upon a rock, not sandy ground? (A Sunday School song comes to mind).

Something about Chapera's team bugs me, and it irritates me to keep seeing them win. I don't like Boston Rob, I don't like Amber a whole lot, Sue's attitude bugs, Rob C. isn't his funny self like he was in the Amazon (or at least they're not showing it), and Alicia seems extra in your face right now. Their only saving grace for me is Big Tom. I will give Kudos to Boston Rob for building a great house though- he knew what he was doing.

I think some heavy editing was going on when we heard Kathy say something like "Your attitude is a cancer to our team" to Jenna. Did she not know what was going on with Jenna when she said that? Or did they splice out half of what she said. Kathy doesn't strike me as being that insensitive, so I think some heavy editing was going on....

I think what kind of slowed the episode down for me, was I like watching them compete in the games. While the house building was a competition of sorts, it dragged. And then we didn't have an immunity challenge, so the episode seemed kind of anti-climatic, although of course, heavy on the drama with Jenna.

I truly felt badly for Jenna, and she's never been a favorite Survivor of mine. I think her Mother probably begged her to go, and she went to please her Mom...then she probably felt sick about it the second she stepped on the plane and had a sixth sense about her mother. I was crying at the end when it stated her mother died only 8 days later- sob! I think Alicia (who was a favorite of mine going into this season) was just too harsh- I even watched the snippet on the Survivor website- she just comes across as too know it all for my taste. I think she is very smart, but sometimes you just have to be quiet.

Survivor - Pearl Islands was my first season of watching...so unlike many of you..I'm just now getting to know many of the contestants...but I still find myself getting bored with it.

Last nights episode was huge tear jerker. I was trying to hold back the tears, but they were flowing at the end. I'm thankful that Jenna knew in her heart she was needed at her mom's bedside.

Yes, I agree. I'm sure the boat Jenna left on is the same boat Jeff came in on.

This season is kind of slow. (Not slow enough for me to miss an episode.LOL) Of course all of us had very high expectations. I think the drama will pick up when they merge.

If they are going to merge, after next week, there will be 14 players left. I wonder if they will break the 3 teams to 2 teams of 7 at that point.

I hope they do this soon, to mix it all up.

And, even though a lot of folks don't like Richard Hatch. I'm hoping he stays around for quite a while, because he always makes the show SO much more interesting. Who else would bite a shark and then eat him?

Sorry, ignore this one - it posted twice and won't delete.

I am hoping for a merge too. I haven't liked the "feel" of this survivor, with splitting the camera time between 3 tribes we are not seeing as much interaction between the players.

How funny! It looked more like she was tenderizing the meat instead of trying to cut it!

Tuli - remind me which remark that was?

Remember during last season's finale, Jonny Fairplay's planned-ahead deceit regarding his grandmother - "She died dude" - was discussed. IMO, he should have really been called on the carpet for it but everyone took it in stride and even inferred that it was a genius type of play. He and Jeff were talking about this and then Jon said something to the effect of "Who knows, maybe during All-Stars my grandfather will die" or something to that effect. Jeff just gave him this look.

This was discussed on the thread. Some of us did not quite catch what he said and had to have it clarified and some thought it meant he gave away the fact that he was on All-Stars (so glad he is NOT).

Now we know why Jeff looked the way he did. He was in total shock!

Questions that come into my head:
1) Did Jon know Jenna's mom had died?
2) Was there any way he could know Jenna was on All-Stars?
3) Could he ever be a bigger ******* if he tried?

One more thing I have to add regarding Jenna's departure and this is on a much lighter note.

Editing or not, but I truly believe not - did you guys notice how she went and hugged everyone. She hugged everyone that is, EXCEPT Rob C.! I had to laugh at that. Poor Rob, with his major crush last season on Jenna's friend, Heidi, and his broadcasted television fact that he has trouble getting girlfriends, and he couldn't even get a sympathy hug with Jenna, the second girl he adored from afar during Survivor-Amazon.

And now he is jealous over Rob M. and Amber!
