Survey: Likes, Dislikes, Wishes for DVC

We would like

1) Another Member homecoming
2) Option to extend our time for the lease
3) Pool hopping!!

There really isn't many things we dont like...

We like
-flexibility
-annual pass discount

Dislike
-slow buses, especially to DTD. It wouldn't be so bad if several resorts didn't have to share, like Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk, etc.
- agree about Deevy See - sorry, has to be a better option

Wish
-the concept of members having a slight priority over rentals is attractive (as someone suggested) - maybe members at 11 months and 7 months, and rentals at 6 months?

-create a DVC dining plan, which would eliminate confusion about segmenting for dining. Let DVCers pick how many table meals they want. Include mugs. Give them appetizer, dessert and meal and pick a set price - say $26 per table (which I got from dividing this year's one day deluxe plan by the 3 meals you could get). Basically, the deluxe plan, but spread out for whole vacation, so if you only want 3 TS all week, then that's what you pay for. Then for every 3 table services, they would be allocated 2 snacks. If this is too confusing, I'd have no problem with them just doing one snack per table service - to make it easier for them of course.:rolleyes1

- or an across the board discount (give members a certain percentage off all restaurants). I understand that this would impact TIW purchases; however, I know many DVCers (especially those who only come once a year) who don't purchase TIW anyway, since you have to pass $75 before a savings kicks in.

Likes:
AP discount
flexibility
ability to purchase dining plan and/or TIW
ability to book at all resorts

dump:
Disney files--useless and wasting our money
sending out booklet with point charts well after everyone has booked for that year
DeeVee Cee--she's embarassing and we're paying her salary

wishlist:
ability to cancel all housekeeping at check in (instead of calling housekeeping from room--half of the time they come anyway)
online reservations
better bus service, especially at SSR
better, and resort-specific, merchandise and art work
ability to pay for AP tickets monthly with dues

This is a great question!

Likes:

Being a part of Disney

The fact that DVC resorts are deluxe category resorts

Booking flexibility (not like other time-shares that give you the same week every year)

Fee internet

Dislikes:

When I call MS to book a room and there isn't one available....BUT they DO have one available for cash - NOW please don't "flame" me on this. I will say, I would completely understand this if I was calling for a NON-DVC resort, or I was calling last minute OR looking for a res during peak times. To be honest, I'd prefer if they just said "no availability" because telling me "BUT there is availability on a cash reservation" and asking me to pay $400+ for a studio at HHI during NON-peak time was just like pouring salt in my wound. AND -- the day of check in they still had rooms available for cash, but they didn't release them for DVC. I later found out that they have to hold a certain amount of rooms for cash reservations but that they can/will reallocate them back to DVC if they are not booked. So, I was just a little miffed that they had the studios available even on the day I wanted to check in --for a mid-week stay during NON peak time yet they still wouldn't book this as a DVC reservation :headache:

Wishes

More DVC merchandise options

Some sort of DDP discount for members - doesn't have to be lofty, just SOMETHING

Build a 21 and older resort that's 1/2 DVC on the monorail just outside EPCOT and include a walkway to EPCOT.
I want to add that one to my wish list also
:). Maybe include a 21+ lounge area, with alcohol and set up to create an atmosphere of "mingling" between the various guests, adult only pools and hot tubs, etc. A small casino would be fun, but we know that will never happen.

Like:
Have just the right amount of points to stay comfortably at WDW.
The ease of walking into Epcot from BCV

Dislike:
Dump DeeVeeCee,
Disfiles does nothing for us
Lack of inventory

Wish list:
More inventory available for point use
Better care of the units
Online point reservations that I can see IR time.

The reason those rooms cannot be booked on points is that they have already been booked on points and traded for a cruise or Adventures by Disney or some other non-DVC Disney vacation. They have to pay for that non-DVC trip that the member booked with their points, so they have to sell them. They can't use points a second time for that villa. No cash, and the trip isn't paid for. They don't hold out rooms for cash reservations (other than the 3-5% that DVC owns out of the resort).

There is lack of inventory because points haven't been sold or because they've already been booked. But once they are sold, that member might just book them. Every villa that is available is based on the points sold at that resort. When DVC exercises ROFR and buys back a contract, they get points back that they can sell to a member or as a single stay to anyone who wants to pay cash.

The best way to get what you want is to own at the resort you want the most and book your stay at 11 months out when MS opens for the day to get what you want.

I love most everything DVC...quality of accomodations, price, size, etc. I never have any points left to bank, so I have not paid any attention to the banking rule changes. Maybe I should?

I wish we could opt out of the DVC annual vacation planner. It's not very timely, and after being an owner for 10 years, I prefer using the website for information. I think it is a major waste of dues.

Likes:
1. The ability to give my family special vacations as they grow up and sharing with family the love of WDW.
2.The advantage of going "home" to a villa not just a room.
3. Being part of this group of people my extended family calls "Disney Crazies"

Dislikes:
1. The exchange program for trips outside the Disney properties with RCI.
2. The fact that in order to go on a cruise it is more cost effective to rent my points and pay cash for my trip.
3. The food at the parks and resorts since free dining has come along. It just seems that no matter where you go everything sort of tastes the same.

Wish List:
1. More properties in other parts of the world with affordable points.
2. The ability to get discounts on MMY passes.
3.More time to spend in WDW with my family.

Likes:
1. Option (and size) of a 2 bed room - perfect for my family
2. In room washer, dryer and full kitchen
3. Free internet
4. Welcome Home

Dislikes:
1. Disappering/declining perks
2. A/C that shuts off
3. The hallways at Boardwalk

Wishes:
1. Monthly payment plan for APs
2. DVC at Castaway Cay
3. DDP discount

turns off when the sensors do not detect any movement for a specified period of time. Since I am an active sleeper ours rarely turns off :)

Likes:

1. Program flexibility - time of year, any resort at seven months, villa size and length of stay
2. Discounts - particularly AP

Dislikes:

1. Diminished value of program - probably inescapable but the program is not as special or as cost effective as it was
2. Change in resale program that creates two tiers of owners
3. Check-in process and villa availability

Wish for:

1. Full function owner accessible reservation system
2. More comprehensive property wide discount program
3. DVC sponsored rental and buy back program
