from what I know of them you can rent/ride them at BWI, CBR and POR. Did I miss any other resorts? But we are also looking for the best and maybe least crowded resort to ride them at. As well as the resort that is roomy (a nice long stretch to ride) and still beautiful to look at. Sorry if I'm asking for too much, but anyone have any ideas? Thanks popcorn::

You can also rent them at WL and ride them over to FW and back.

We rented the surrey bikes at the CBR. The ride around the lake is 1.4 miles. The surrey bike was a nice way to see the entire resort. You will start out at Old Port Royale and pass by all the villages before returning to the marina. At one point, you will be riding on a wooden walkway through a wooded area. There are lots of flowering bushes and trees.

The promenade/walkway is pretty wide and we never had a problem going around guests that were walking.

We rented ours at OKW. It was very scenic, and more importantly, flat the whole time we rode.

SSR has them too. Not too crowded when we've been there, and the resort is huge!

We rented one in July and took the trip over to FW. It was very relaxing and secluded. On the way to FW we saw a horse and carriage ride; on the way back we saw just one other surrey heading towards FW.

We visited the stables and the blacksmith's shop while at FW. It was a nice change of pace.

Where did you rent them there, are they expensive, and should you rent them by a certain time? ie: if we went in the afternoon would they be all gone, thanks?

These are soooooooo fun! One of my kids favorite things to do - we've only rented them at the Boardwalk. :thumbsup2

We've rented them at the Boardwalk. However it can be fairly crowded in the evening so you have to constantly be on the lookout so you don't run into anyone. Also, there a couple of "hills" that can be very difficult to climb without a running start.

You can rent them at "Horsing Around Rentals," which is right outside of High Rock Spring Pool by the main road. They have regular bikes and the surrey bikes available along with a variety of other sports equipment for rent. The 2-seat surrey is $16.90 for guests and $15.28 for DVC members for 30 minutes, and the 4-seat surrey is $20.65 for guests and $18.68 for DVC members for 30 minutes.

I have walked by there in the afternoon and have always seen surrey bikes still available. I've only seen a few being ridden through the resort. I don't think it's as popular an activity at SSR as it is at BW, but the resort is so big that there may be a whole bunch out there being ridden and I wouldn't have seen them.

We like to comment (loudly) "Look, the guy in back isn't peddling" near those hills. ;)

CSR has the surrey bikes as well. I would like to try one with my hubby soon!!

Coronado Springs has them, plus a beautiful lake with walkway (no hills!) to pedal around. You can also take a paddle boat or kayak out on the lake from the rental place.

Do the surrey bikes only seat four people or is there room for four adults and a 10-year-old? Are there pedals for more than four?

Thanks for the great response, much appreciated! We're looking forward to exploring the resort although it is so big it may take more than one trip lol. :thumbsup2

There are various sizes of bikes. I've seen one that carries 6.

:rotfl: Most important Simba. We rented a 4 seater at the Broadwalk and couldn't make it up the hill between the YC and broadwalk. It was a hoot seeing folks coasting backwards in a surrey.
