We are looking at renting the surrey bikes on our trip this year. We have bypassed these in the past, but this year is more relaxed. Where is the best place to rent them from your experiences and why.

Thanks!!

Well I would rent the surrey bikes at the boardwalk. I loved it there with the family. You get to go along the water and stop and shop a little while you are biking around. It's a great place if you want a good view with lots to see. CAUTION!!!! There are however steep hills so I would not suggest going it alone. The more adult help the better! Also they have a height limit for the shorter children. For them they would just ask that you peddle for them, but they are still allowed to come along for the ride. Hope this helped:)

Our experience with Surrey bikes

Where: Port Orleans Riverside

Why: Because we were nuts!!!

Seriously, it was fun.. DS (2 at the time) wouldn't ride in the front basket thing so the lady let him ride between me and DH (probably shouldn't have) but it was fine. And DD rode in the back.. DH kept yelling "Stroke, stroke" like we were in a boat so we would pedal faster.. and I added to his song "stroke, stroke.. gonna have a stroke, stroke, stroke, gonna have a " well you get the idea!! :lmao:

My sister and I tried to rent one with our children (2,6,& 6) last week at the boardwalk. Both the six year olds are tall, over 48 inches, but they weren't tall enough to pedal. I don't remember for sure but I think it was 58 inches to pedal. We only would have been able to rent the one seater, putting the 2 year old between us and the six year olds in the basket. We were told we needed 3 pedalers for the two seater. We passed as the six year olds would not have been happy in the basket. I wish I would have looked into it before we took the kids over to the stand as they were very disappointed.

We rented a four passenger surrey bike at the Boardwalk. One caution - go when it is not super crowded on the Boardwalk! Small children were walking right near/in front of our bike. It was very challenging to relax when I had this vision of this bike carrying four adults plowing over a distracted 3 year old!

Also, as others said, there are hills. Make sure you have some strong adult legs on that bike or the hills can be, well, not very magical :rolleyes1

are there bikes in polynesian? also can u fit 4 adults and 2 small kids on one? what is the charge?

Yes there are surrey bikes at the Polynesian. I wouldn't say they are as much fun as the ones at the boardwalk because the boardwalk has a much nicer view. I would think that maybe you could squeeze 4 adults and 2 children on the bike, but the children may have to ride in the basket. I don't remember what they charged, but when they ask you if you want to rent them for an hour or a half hour take it for a half hour! Trust me it is more than enough time. It's not quite as easy as it looks.....;)

We rented one of the really big 3-seaters on the Boardwalk. We had 5 adults and 5 kids. Two of the kids (1 y/o and 3 y/o) rode in the basket and the others were sandwiched between us. My 9-y/o granddaughter couldn't reach the pedals very well but she is on the petite side. Believe the people who have posted about the hills. It took all 5 of us adults pedalling hard to make it up the one near the Swan and Dolphin hotels. BUT..........it was one of the highlights of our trip. We always try to do something new and this was so much fun. We laughed all the way (nearly hysterically a couple of times!) We did it one night when the Boardwalk wasn't too crowded. The lights are really pretty as you pedal around the lake at night.

Last year on my son's birthday trip to Disney, his only request was to rent a surrey bike. So, we did. I have never sweated so much in my life. August. Mid-day. Boardwalk. You don't really notice the hills so much until you're trying to pedal a surrey bike up them in 95 degree weather. :rotfl: It's a little worrisome when you're going down the hills, too. It feels somewhat out of control and there's a lot of pedestrians - especially through the yacht and beach club pool area.
