I figured demand would be much higher, esp. since for June. We walked around the grounds and lobby a few weeks ago and it is absolutely beautiful.

Really looking forward to this stay.

When you see the points required to stay there, it is not surprising that people might choose other options that help stretch their points farther. I agree that it is a beautiful resort.

1 bedrooms are often the last to book. I'm glad you got what you wanted! For me, it would be a studio. Finally a studio with á shower stall! I got one for April!

Keep in mind that it is currently easier to book VGF at 7 months, because DVD declared a lot more of the resort (75% or so) than they have points sold.

Once those points get sold, more of the villas will be booked before the 7 month window opens. 2014 is probably the "sweet spot" for ease of booking VGF at 7 months. I doubt that will continue to the extent it exists right now.

OP - Good for you. Have fun!

Our thoughts exactly...this is the year to book VGF before all the points are sold and the 7 month bookings dry up. We scored two nights in a 2 bedroom lake view lock off! :cool1:

The Hardest VGF rooms to book (in order of hardest to easiest) at the 7 month mark are:

2 Bedroom Lock-off lake view
Studio Lake view
Studio standard view
2 Bedroom Lock-off standard view
1 Bedroom lake view
1 Bedroom standard view
2 Bedroom lake view
2 Bedroom standard view
3 Bedroom Grand Villa lake view

* Generally the Studios are harder to book than the 2 Bedrooms and I personally think the Studio Lake View is the hardest to book, but the 2 Bedroom lock off lake view is technically harder to book as they are linked to the studio lake view. I am not certain of how many people want a 2 bedroom lock-off over a 2 bedroom non lock-off so it is hard to make a definitive conclusion. No matter, if you desire a 2 Bedroom lock-off lake view, this is the hardest to book.

We got very lucky as well, we were able to book a studio, lake view for April 27-May 4th at the 7 month window.

I agree, 2014 might be the only year that it's that easy to get in to.

I don't think it is surprising at all a large number of points have been declared but not yet sold. Once it sells out I would expect it to be near impossible to book at 7 months

Hello,

Just called up this morning at the 7 month mark for our Aug 9th 2014 trip and surprisingly got a VGF Studio Lake view. I was fully expecting to have to fall back to our 2nd choice. Only issue is we wanted 8 nights so I have to call back tomorrow to add on the last night which they are not allowed to reserve yet.

Really excited for this trip as it will be our first time at the GF . Just leaves the Poly as the missing link...

As I have mentioned before while tracking DVC demand at 7 moinths out, if you go between the Monday after Marathon weekend in Jan and just before the end of Sep, even during the holidays during that time, you will usually find many things open at the near park resorts at 7 months out. DVC demand is skewed heavily toward the quarter that begins end of Sep and ends Marathon weekend in Jan. Your three highest demand months of the year are, in order 1 to 3, December, October, and November. The most difficult holiday times to get at 7 months out at near park resorts are Christmas time, Thanksgiving time. Columbus Day weekend and Veterans Day weekend Those all make Easter time and July 4 time look like off-season, which for DVC they essentially are. Members are often surprised to find near park resorts available even at six to four months out during a number of times in that 9 month "off-season" and shocked when virtually nothing is available at near park resorts at 7 months out for the first half of Dec or middle weeks of October. The one thing that is also true is that demand for studios and 2BRs significanlty outstrips the demand for 1BRs and you can often find 1BRs open at near park resorts at 7 months out even during that high demand quarter. Also, VGF is still a resort developing. By the time it sells out, studios in particular are likely to become much more difficult to get but 1BRs should remain easy to get.
