This is our third year in a row doing a WDW Spring vacation. (middle of May this time) The last two years, the kids (DD15 and DD9) have been deeply involved in the planning and have done the countdown calendar on the fridge and everything. But both years, they mentioned how fun it would be to not even know about a trip and then have us spring it on them...So guess what? This year, that's the plan!! I've gone to great lengths to act irritated when they bring it up ("Can't we go again PLEASE?!"). They're pretty disappointed at the moment because I finally told them that we just couldn't afford it this year. My parents are also coming with us this time, which will just add to the surprise. (I'm guessing that it will be Grandpa who accidentally spills the beans because he's as excited as I am!

Although this is great fun planning behind their backs and I fall asleep every night thinking about their reactions, I'M LOSING MY MIND!! I LOVE WDW and I'm always beside myself by the time our trip rolls around...but this time I can't yell and scream and sing Disney songs with the kids...!

Any tips for staying sane for the next 80-some days?!?!:bounce:

Hardest thing I ever did...I about drove my husband bonkers. It was all I wanted to talk about and he could have cared less. It was great to do it one time, but I doubt I'll ever be able to contain the secret again. My only advice is keep picturing their excitement when they do find out, it will all be worth it. Also, read the dis boards a lot, it helped me feel like I was planning with some one.

You can do it, enjoy the moment and your trip!!! :thumbsup2

I've done a few surprise trips so I understand. It does get hard especially when the kids start asking.

I usually find time after they are asleep and read on here, watch videos, etc.

I'm single so I don't really have anyone to talk to about it. It's too early to really tell anyone because they might slip.

We are going a little after you at the end of May. My two I think probably feel like we'll go this summer, but don't know when. I'm putting my daughter in a special 6 week program this summer so we're going the first full week she is out of school before it starts.

I did some online shopping this weekend to help with the excitement. I had a list of gifts on my planning document and I've now ordered everything :cool1:

In moments of weakness I remember that my daughter too has told me she prefers to be surprised. I've done 2 surprise trips to Disney and one to Sea World and one Disney trip where she was in on the planning from the beginning. My son is too young to help plan but was just old enough last year to be surprised. My daughter says a surprise trip means less waiting so she likes it.

Watching those youtube videos helps too.
