Surprising our 6 children!

We are so excited to be taking our 6 kids, ranging in age from 7-13, to disneyland in June. The two youngest will be experiencing it for the first time. We always dream of going, but as you can imagine, it costs a lot for a family our size.
Often we will joke around with the kids, saying we are going so I wonder what the response will be this time around? They think we are saving to go in 1 year+?
We have planed a treasure hunt on Father's Day. I'm telling the kids it's a treasure hunt for dad. They will help and guide him through until the last clue that will lead to a buried treasure chest. The last map and riddle will be revealing that the treasure is for them! Inside we have gold coins, goblets, skulls, beads and jewels. There will be a note inside telling them we are leaving. The van will be packed and decorated for our 2 day drive down.

It's killing me keeping this all a secret.

Your surprise and treasure hunt sound like so much fun!! We also are surprising my daughter with a trip to Disneyland. My daughter thinks we are going to a "dance convention" in "San Diego" (code words for my mom and I when we talk about the trip) which will last for 5 days....(my dd is a dancer and is used to going to conventions....these types of trainng classes normally are 2-3 days long). We will be driving to CA from Phoenix in 2 weeks and plan to tell her at lunch, right before we arrive in Anaheim, with a special light up birthday card that has Mickey Mouse on it with the Fantasia music playing when it opens....inside will be her printed out annual pass to both parks!!! This is a combined birthday trip/vacation for us....it has been 3 years since we have been able to afford a vacation due to illness in the family...and its also been SO hard to keep from spilling this FUN secret...can't wait for when we finally leave!!
