Surprising kids with Easter Egg hunt?

Has anyone surprised their kids with a trip using an Easter Egg hunt? Our kids are 10,8 and twins that are 2. Not quite sure how to go about it and thought someone on the board must have done it before. Our plan is to do the egg hunt the day before we leave. Thanks!

This was originally my plan, but we ended up telling ODS already. I was going to have clues inside the eggs that he would put together at the end. We will be there for SWW, so his clues were going to be coded in Jedi symbols, with one egg having the key. I did still do a coded message for him, and he loved breaking it, just not for Easter. I'm not sure you'd want to do a code for a regular trip though. Maybe more like a puzzle to put in the correct order.

Seems like it could work for your kids. Everyone can hunt for eggs, and the older kids can put clues together while the toddlers "help" open all of the eggs.

Oh yes, and I had planned on giving him an Easter Basket full of SWW supplies after he broke the code. I am still going to do the basket though. It will have SW sunglasses, glow sticks, a bag of items to trade with Jawas, autograph book, etc. You could do the same with items appropriate for your trip.

My friend did this a couple of years ago. She had a customized puzzle made that said "We are going to Disney World!" Then she put a puzzle piece in each egg. Once her girls had collected all of the eggs, she had them put together the puzzle to find the message. If you're planning on doing it this year, you probably won't get a customized puzzle back in time, but I believe you can buy blank puzzles at Michaels to decorate as you please.

I love the puzzle idea! I'm just afraid if they see the word "Disney" my kids will freak out right away. Maybe I could have that piece missing and give it to them at the end?
