I have a dog who has very sensitive skin. It has been so dry and itchy lately, I went out and found 'sensitive skin' dog food. I hesitated initially on doing this because he is so fickle, I wasn't sure he would even eat it!! :rolleyes1 I found it at Petsmart and it's made by Nature's Recipe. The main ingredient in it is venison! No beef whatsoever in it. Not only does he LOVE it, his skin is really improving. :dogdance: I got both the dry and the canned versions. The cans actually hace chunks of carrots and potatoes in them! :thumbsup2

Interesting.

I have cats and every cat food on the planet seems to assume that not only do cats love fish and seafood--but that it must be included even if that is not the advertised flavor.

So I have to search high and low for fish free cat food. Grrrr.

I wish pet food shopping was easier.

Lots of dogs need more than just beef/meat...they need veggies too! :)

I often split a can of tuna (in oil, if I can find it) or salmon between my three, fish oil is good for them (and their skin/coats).

Just a thought though...one of the symptoms of thyroid problems in dogs is dry/flaky skin. You might want to have your vet check your dog out, just to be safe!

I'm tempted to try that with our golden Maggie because her coat tends to be dry but what's it do to their breath? AAGGHH! You've never smelled death until you're sitting next to our miss maggie when she decides to give a great big yawn (depending on what she's been eating!)

Winnie's food is Limited Ingredient by Science Diet...it's DUCK and potato

My dog had sensitive skin and absolutely loved this stuff!! :thumbsup2 In fact I make a joke that he picked it out himself. One year our home flooded due to a hurricane and the animal shelter came around with a van load of donated food. He literally went over the van door and sniffed around until he found a bag he liked and then put his head on it. The van was loaded with all sorts of different foods due to donations. Gotta love a dog that knows what he likes. :rotfl:

I haven't noticed it doing anything to their breath...except right after they eat it! LOL! But my dogs don't have a breath problem anymore.

There are a couple of options for bad breath. The first thing you might want to do is have his teeth checked and cleaned.

You can get biscuits/cookies with activated charcoal in them and that will help. They also have doggie altoids and my dogs liked those!
