Hi All,

I'm surprising my 5 year old with a trip to Disney in December. We will leave the day before her birthday. I would love to hear how you've surprised your little ones on past trips! Any cute ideas would be greatly appreciated!! =)

I am not blessed with Children but my favorite ones I read are

a cake, cookie or cupcake 'you are going to Disney',

a friend does an invite from the fairy godmother inviting her daughter to restaurants at WDW and supplies a dress.
I love that! You could adapt that to the cruise to include swimming costume.

You can get a character call inviting you to the cruise from the DCL website.

A balloon.

I am also surprising my 5 year old for her birthday...but we are leaving the next month. I plan to get a large box and put balloons in it so when she opens it, a sign will float out saying "you're going to Disney". When my oldest was 5, we did a scavenger hunt and the final clue was on the remote to the tv. When she pressed play it was the Disney planning DVD and we told her she was going.

I don't have results yet, because we're surprising tomorrow...but here's the plan.

I have a pretty basic treasure map I made of our backyard. I kind of distressed the paper a bit, did the whole "x marks the spot" thing and rolled it up like a scroll. We're giving the kids (4 & 5) the scroll and are going to let them loose. Buried at the X is a little burlap sack with another little map. This is where the "treasure" is going to be. We put our magic bands, luggage tags and then copies of each of the park maps into a treasure chest. An amazing DISigner here made us custom WDW tickets with each kiddos name on it - their tickets will be on top of all the other stuff in the box. The final one isn't going to be buried, just stashed behind the hostas lol

We went from Canada to Florida by car telling my kids and my nephew and niece that we were going to the "beach in the USA".

We put all of their magicband, pennies, pins, autographs books, etc. from their previous trip in a big box. We told them to open it once we got to our hotel (we were offsite).

They were so cute once they figured it out lol. They then spend at least an hour complaining because they were really looking forward to the "beach in the USA" loloolool

They forgot about the beach the next morning on our way to MK ;)

When I was that age, we went for my first time. It wasn't a surprise trip, but my mom lined up some fun things for the drive. When we got in the car, I got a present - a Minnie Mouse watch. My mom was teaching me to tell time, so she said to let her know when certain times were, and when I did, new surprises came. It was stuff like books, small toys, etc. it kept me occupied! I've seen that watch at Target recently, in case you want to try it.
