Surprise! We're going to WDW and I'm.....

Congrats!! I would definetly ask your OB's opinion on what he would recommend you avoid. The good news being there are so many shows and mild rides, you'll still be able to do so much.
We took a Huge extended family trip in the fall of 2003. We planned for almost a year. It was my sister's first time. Don't you know 2 days before we left she went for her annual visit, and got the news she was pregnant. She was shocked-- but her & her dh were thrilled. She didn't tell us until after the trip because she didn't want us to fret about her. Her doctor at the time told her to do what she would of done had her appointment been the week after the trip. Each doctor is different though-- so I'd go w/ the one you trust and take their advice.

Hey, congrats. What a wonderful blessing! Sounds like similar circumstances here. I am due 12/15 and going to WDW next month. I've gone to Europe twice while PG but this dealing with heat thing is new. Still unsure how I feel about it since I will have a 4-year-old and a 21-month-old along too (oy!)

Anyway, lots of good advice here, I've learned a couple things too! Have you ever heard of Preggie Pops? They are a morning sickness quelling lollipop and they are great.

Have a wonderful trip and uneventful 8 months!

Oh the best part- I found out that I'm not the only blessed older Mom around here! :

My mom is the same age as you, and I wish she'd have another baby. But she told me "no way!" And she thinks it'd be weird to have an almost 20 year old, 13 year old, and a baby :confused3 Oh well, congrats again! :teeth:

Congratulations, Daydreamer64! :cool1: My mom had my "little" brother when she was 42 (we were 14, 18 and 19). It was the best pregnancy she had (no morning sickness). Maybe you will get lucky and feel better this time. HomeSweet Disney, let your mom know that I asked my mom to have another baby when I was 12, and she responded the same way. Two years later "surprise", she was PG w/ the son my dad always wanted (we were 3 DD at the time). Now he has little ones of his own, which is great, because the last baby was my DD who is now 16!

Congrats!
Most of my tips have already been posted but.........
I was going to suggest lemon drops for the nausea when lemonade is not available. I know that you said you are diabetic, so maybe you could find sugar-free lemon drops.

found out that no matter how careful you think you are being conception can still occur!

LOL- the story of my life!

An additional congrats...

And since Dec. 26th is my birthday, I can reassure you your child will be the most awesome thing to ever walk the earth. ;)

Congratulations! It can be scary to find yourself pregnant unexpectedly (unexpectedly expecting?? lol). I know! I thought I was done - 2 sons - life was going smoothly, way passed the baby stage and HELLO???? What's that? Morning sickness?!! Noooooooooooo!!!! Me???? No, no, no!!! Don't be silly. lol But yes, what a surprise!! My boys are 11 and 8.5 and my baby just turned 1. She's a joy and a blessing and we wouldn't change a thing - just look at her in my sig, how could I send *her* back???? lol! It takes a while to psyche yourself up to pregnancy and baby-rearing again but you'll get there and it will all start to make sense :)

Your holiday could not be better-timed!!! I think it was meant to be. My goodness, if you hadn't booked it already, you probably wouldn't have done it now and who knows when you'd get to WDW?? What a great opportunity to spend quality time as a family before baby comes and barges his/her way through the house like a bull in a china shop! lol Have a wonderful holiday. Lots of plain crackers and tea! And treat yourself to some leisurely sit-down meals. :)

Just had to chime in here... that is a beautiful baby! I had to look twice thinking it was an old cameo, or a painting, not a real baby!

One more suggestion....

Take advantage of the Baby Centers in each park. Drop in, let your boys watch the Disney movies for a few minutes, and sit and relax in the air conditioning for a bit!

That's how we got "our girl" too! My two oldest boys were also 11 and 8.5 but we had a 3 yr old son too. It took me a looooong time to get the idea into my head that we were having another. And then it took even longer to adjust to the idea of having a girl! In the hospital I would refer to our DD as "he" and the nurses would look at me funny and say, "I thought your baby was a girl?" Then I'd have to explain. :teeth:

Yes, when a pregnancy is totally unplanned there is a period of SHOCK! Here there is a TV show on The Learning Channel (If you get that station) called "A Baby Story". I would watch that show every day and it really helped me get excited about having another.

DD is 4 and not a day goes by that I don't look at her and think to myself, "I am SO glad we had that 'accident'!" princess:

Crazymom,
I could have written your post. lol! I know *exactly* what you mean - I definitely think our girl was meant to be here - the best surprise in the world! Oh 'A Baby Story' - ROFL :rotfl: I watched it OBSESSIVELY!!! It's on Discovery Health channel here every morning and I work from home so every day I'd put it on to get me in the new-baby mood! I would panic sometimes at the first timers co-ordinating their nursery 6 months in advance of the birth when, at that stage, I just found out I was pregnant! Overall though, it really helped.

Oh the "he" thing - I did that for ages. lol! I was mortified in the hospital constantly calling her "he" and "him" and getting strange looks. DH was afraid of her at first. :rotfl2: One day in the hospital I asked him to put a fresh babygro on her (we call them babygros, you know the all-in-one sleepsuits) and he said he was too scared so I said "but you've done it hundreds of times before" and he said "no I haven't, they were boys, totally different". LOLOL!! It took him a week or so and now they're best pals :teeth:

LOL-- DH informed me early on that he does NOT change the diapers of baby girls. I think he only changed her a handful of times, all told.
But she has him wrapped around her little finger now!

My SIL and DB were on that show. It aired last September (and has aired a number of times since.) If you ever see it, it is "Baby Zingaro". That's my DN, Jimmy (James Matthew). He just celebrated his first birthday!

COOL! I'll keep my eye open. Even though we aren't planning anymore babies, I still watch it when I'm folding laundry...practically the only time I get to watch TV! :rotfl:

Well, life around here is always eventful.
is going great- we are really excited. We tell our 9 and 11 year old boys- HEY! WE'RE GOING TO WDW! Everybody is full of excitment and plans.

How do you tour the parks in the heat of summer with morning sickness?? ( the last 2 times it lasted throughout the pregnancies)?? I'm excited but am nervous that I will spend the vacation in the resort room sick. :guilty: So, if you've been there and have advice- please advise away! :grouphug:

Awww... CONGRATULATIONS!! And welcome to my world!! I coulda written your post... 8 YEARS ago!! :rotfl: Seriously, I believe my sons were 9 and 11, and yep I was 40, and yep, we hadnt planned anymore... and yep... WDW because life was going to change...

I was 6 months preg, and I bought the UG, and we went CAMMANDO style - no problem. Mind you I got Vericose Veins, and dh and youngest ds had to run to keep up with my long purpley legs.. :rotfl:

It was an amazing memory! I did want to stay on the monorail in case I had to go back, and dh had to carry on without me... never happened!! I believe I rose to the occassion for my kids, for me, truly a blessing!!

I love the fresh lemonade idea, the water fan idea, and I used the bandana cool something I found at WalMart, I put it in water, and it expanded, stayed cooled was wonderful... they sell crystallized ginger, and ginger capsules at the health food store, its wonderful for morning sickness. For me I found jelly belly beans helpful :confused3 The sea bands also helped at Disney for me!! I know I talked to my doctor, and I cant believe I'm not making this up, but ds swears I rode Space Mountain with him!! :flower:

Btw, we had a girl! She is a blessing, and loved wdw so much, we're going back for her birthday in October!

I'm overwhelmed with happiness with all of you sharing your stories  . It's especially comforting to hear about all you 40 years olds plus having a surprise pregnancy. I'm not sure that I'd know what to do with a little girl since I've had only boys so far.

My FP (MD- not Fast Pass :rotfl: ) was the one to find out that I was pregers. We go to the OB Monday 4/25 to get a look see and start this grand adventure off on the right foot.

We've been to the Babies R Us and had a ball- boy these little people are expensive when YOU HAVE TO START ALL OVER BECAUSE YOU SOLD ALL THE BABY THINGS AND FURNITURE LAST SUMMER! I held on to those things for 8 years and than BAM!- SURPRISE! :earseek: :rotfl2:

Yeah- but this time we are older and have more money - it's really fun to shop when you can buy what you want ( within reason ) and not have to buy something just because it fits your budget :wizard: .

I loved all the pictures and stories of the babies    .

I'll send an update after the appointment next week- there's a chance that I'm carring multiples-

Oh, do let us know. My MIL had twins at 40. She already had 5 children, the youngest of which was 18 when she had the twins. Talk about a shocker!

As far as the "older mom" thing goes, I think you are right in style..... more and more women are waiting until their mid to late 30's to have their first and are still having kids in their early 40's. I know several friends/family who had babies after 40...................oh, why did I sell that baby stuff?? I'm 40!!!!

#6. Ginger Tea... I'd say ginger ale, but most brands don't have enough real ginger in it to aid in nausea

or try gingersnaps. they were the only thing that helped me.
