Hello! I have always done trip reports after my cruises, but I don't think that I have successfully done one after a Disney trip. That is, until now.
I am determined to complete a trip report, so it only makes sense to do a pre-trip report, which will help me pass the last few weeks until we leave for our trip.
Cast of Characters
Our travel party consists of me and my husband. We have been to Disney World about eight times since we got married in 2000 and did the Land and Sea package for our Honeymoon (stayed at the Contemporary and had a great time!). I had always planned to go to Disney for my Honeymoon since I was a teenager, so it was made quite clear to Jeff before he proposed that it was a package deal. I even reminded him of my plans and got him to agree while he was still down on one knee before I said Yes.
No, I really did!
It all worked out. Eight Disney trips and five DCL trips later, we still love visiting the mouse.
We have two wee ones. Our daughter is newly nine years old and a Disney veteran. Our son will be three in early October. He has been to Disney once before, but as he was seven months old, he doesn't remember much.
As you can see, it is a good time for our family to travel. Our daughter is not yet ten, so she is still considered a kid, and our son is not yet three, so he is still free. Works all around.
When and Where
We will be visiting Mickey from August 20 through August 28th, and staying at the Wilderness Lodge in a Standard room. We are normally pretty loyal Pop Century guests, but we always LOVE the Wilderness Lodge when we go there for dinner (which we do on every trip because we love the place) so we figured that with free dining, we might as well move up in the world and stay there.
Revealing Our BIG Secret
Usually my daughter and I are the big planners for our Disney trips. She loves to help me decide where we will eat, which days to visit parks, etc She hasnt had much to say about this trip, though, because she has absolutely no idea that we are going! We went last in 2009, and because of her super busy summer camp schedule, we told her that we couldnt do a trip until sometime next year. Weve been planning this trip since August of last year, so it has been a long time to keep a secret. Now that we are almost there, I cant wait for her to know. I hope she isnt mad that she didnt get to plan with me.
So we will be at my Parents house the week before we go. They live in North Carolina and my Mom and I love to argue about the best way to go between our houses. We prefer Interstate 81, she prefers 95. So we are going to agree to try her way, and we are planning to leave very early in the morning. The plan is to hit 95 and see how long it takes her to realize that weve gone the wrong way. Our son is so young that he wont get it ever, even though he is going to have a blast. I imagine she will get suspicious if she notices that we are in GA.
The Details
ADRS
Artist Point on Arrival Day
Dinner at Cinderellas Castle
Lunch at Le Cellier
Dinner at Margaritaville at City Walk (going to visit Harry and the gang! Yay!)
Dinner at 50s Prime Time Café
Dinner at Whispering Canyon
Dinner at Crystal Palace (We have friends with two sons my two kids ages who will be there this week as well. We have reservations within 15 minutes of each other at Crystal Palace for dinner, and we will probably ride a few rides together. The kids dont know that they will be there at the same time, so that will be another fun surprise. They will be at Animal Kingdom the day before as well with us.
Dinner at Rose and Crown
Fun Stuff
Our first day at Magic Kingdom Daughter will be visiting the BBB, and Son and Husband will be visiting the Main Street Barber.
Our last day at Magic Kingdom, we have reservations for the Wishes Dessert Party
We are expecting that we will have to take breaks on at least a few days due to our son napping so we are trying not to be too crazy. We are usually commando style visitors, but we know that wont work with our little guy, so we are trying to be more laid back on this trip. We also have a few days with evening downtime to enjoy the pool and hotel.
So what do you think? Anything we are missing or should consider?
