Our friends are joining us for their first WDW trip in December and just found out their adoption is going through so they will have a new baby. Of course I am thrilled for them but I am also trying to be a good Disney tour guide and figure out the best way to deal with a 2 month old. My husband and I have been many times and we are happy to push a stroller while everyone goes on the Mountains and does the big kid stuff. I also know about the great Care centers for new parents. But what rides are doable with a baby in arms? I know about height restrictions for children but Can you carry an infant onto Peter Pan or Pirates? Is there a list I should look for concerning this issue?

A huge congratulations to your friends from one adoptive parent to another!!

I’m going to slide this over to the Disney for Familes forum as you will get a ton of great information and suggestions there!!

At Pirates, I once asked if my sleeping child could stay in the baby-wearing carrier, and they said as long as he was on my front, it was fine. So on a lot of rides we used the carrier, but those included Pirates, Dumbo, Haunted Mansion, Winnie the Pooh, Small World...really most MK rides that didn't have a height requirement. We went when my youngest was 3 months old because we wanted to go 1 more time before my oldest turned 3.

My dream is to be a foster mom, so a HUGE congratulations to your friends!

I wore my daughter on several rides in Epcot when she was 5 months. No one said anything to me at the time. Obviously she was in a front carry lol

You can carrry or wear baby on any ride that doesn’t have a height restriction! Just make sure baby will be comfortable if it’s a ride that has a restraint or bar, like Toy Story. My baby’s first ride was Spaceship Earth when he was 3 weeks old. :)

just watch the jerkyness of Toy Story Mania with a small baby even though there is no height requirement

I question why anyone would take a baby that young on any ride but that’s just me.
On gentle rides, it makes more sense for the family to go together rather than have one person miss the ride because they are outside holding a baby. Mom and Dad would both like to be with their 7 year old when she experiences It’s a Small World or Peter Pan.

Congrats to your friends! I have carried my kids in my arms or in the front facing carrier on rides with no height limit with no issues. The only one I can recall that made me slightly uncomfortable was the Safari due to the bumpiness (and my baby was closer to a year). Also, you should read up on rider swap if you haven’t already, so you can all have a chance to ride the big kid rides, if you want to!

We never went when any of ours were that young. My kids were all around 7-9m on their first trips.

I recommend a good baby carrier. I had an Ergo and Becco when my kids were little. I know there are many more companies now and some need inserts for infants. They are comfortable for the baby and the parents.

I wore them on all of the rides. Back then I heard that some people were told the babies had to be fwd facing but I never encountered that restriction. My kiddies went on everything in my carrier.

The best thing you can do is be understanding and flexible. With a baby that young they’ll need lots of breaks for feeding and diaper changing. They probably won’t get the best sleep so they’ll be tired. And if they want to spend time with their baby they may not be interested in going on thrill rides. When our kids were little we stuck to very family friendly rides like Peter Pan, Small World, shows, etc. basically nothing fast or jerky. Also keep in mind they just may not be interested in going at all.

Perhaps you should explain what is wrong with bringing a baby on a ride, since obviously I'm lacking common sense.
If I had those powers I would fix a lot of people 🤣 .
All I'm saying is lack of height requirement doesn't mean a baby should be on the ride and missing something because of a newborn is probably the dumbest reason to bring a newborn with you.
Do I think babies can go on "some" rides sure, your example of spaceship earth absolutely or the TTA. I probably started bringing my children on most tame rides around 7-8 months

when we were there in August, had to do then for another reason, but it was so hot that neither daughter or granddaughter could stand to use the carrier. something to keep in mind

Yes-- its true, carriers can make you hot. OP said she was going in Dec, so may work for them.

I know that some brands do advertise a style that are made for hot weather with more breathable fabric or the latest wicking material. IIRC one may have been Boba Air or something like that.

Also to OP, forgot to say congrats to your friends on the adoption!

Thanks everyone for the good advice. We will be taking our grand baby in March, she will be 8 months old by then, and we were just talking about what rides if any she could go on. We might take her on some, but we have been there a lot and grandma and grandpa dont mind waiting with the baby or even staying in the room with the baby if need be,

We went in May when my son was 4 months old. He rode literally everything without a height requirement with us. I wore him on most of those rides without any issues. We had my mom & brother with us, so we took turns doing rider swap and waiting with the baby. While others were riding we would take a break in AC and get a snack or walk around a shop.

We had a baby carrier for our four girls, three loved it and one screamed the moment she was placed in it. We took our 3rd daughter when she was a couple of months old because our extended family was going for a reunion and we did not want to miss it. She was easy on the trip. She did what babies do at that age.(eat, sleep, cry, repeat) We enjoyed the trip and are so thankful we went as my father in law passed away a short time later. One of our most precious pictures is him holding her while watching the parade. We took her on several rides without issue. Some of the rides move slower than some of the strollers being pushed(ran) through the parks. If you have any doubt stop at Guest Relations when you enter the park. They will be more than happy to direct you. A big CONGRATS to the lucky couple. Have a great trip.
